One of my 17" monitors has started playing up... it's a few years old so don't mind too much, just would like to know if it's fixable ;)

Basically it mostly works fine but occasionally i'll turn it on or wake it up from sleep and it'll flash the screen at me for about 0.1 seconds and then go black again. Power LED on the front stays green (goes orange when sleeping).

I'll have to repeatedly turn it off / on again before eventually the display stays on and then it's all fine again until the next time I turn it off or it sleeps

Any thoughts much appreciated :)

sounds like it just needs the inverter changing or the connection checking.

Inverter? wassat den ? :D

Connection as in wires? They seem fine - tried wiggling, no difference. The monitor has power, and signal as can be seen when it flashes the display briefly.

might be the capacitors on the power board failing. if it is then it's an easy and cheap fix

if it's the inverters failing you should still be able to see the picture on the screen with the aid of a torch
