He wants assurances? Have I won 30 trophies or what?!
Stop lying Mr Rooney and coming across as a toe rag.
If United's financial situation was more stable i'd say let him rot in the reserves and let Vidic go in on him hard every training session.

BigIan88 has more trophies than Fergie does.

How many times has that been said? Yeah they may go a couple of seasons without the league. On the pitch 2004-2006 they were far worse. Then look what happened.

So you're saying the greats like Paisley, Shankly, Busby, Clough had no influence over the amount of trophies their teams won?

I see where he's coming from, don't you? United have now become known for selling their best players. Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Beckham, the list goes on.
Why would he want to stay at a club that hasn't been able to attract big names for the past few years and has a history of selling the best players?

Yep organisation and tactics have no part to play in football. Doesn't matter who you buy and sell either. Motivation and training is also a waste of time. It's all the players and managers shouldn't be blamed.
Turn it in Roy and get back to Melwood :censored:

Old Roy has proven himself in the premiership with Fulham though if the Liverpool players don't want to play for him then thats different.
Also the squad is pretty average, Torres hasn't been any good since his injury and Gerrard can't do it all.
2 World Class players in your first eleven isn't good enough really.
I think Liverpool will pick up some points and finish in the top half of the table.
ThunderFlash
21-10-10, 11:12
Definitely, they are like 3 points of 11th place or something. Everyone has been taking points off eachother, that's their saving grace.
Plus they've had one of the hardest fixture lists so far.
he going abroad
PLEASE let that be true :)
goto laugh at the stories that United interested in Torres, liverpool now have no debt and no need to sell and i dont think there has ever been a player sold by them to us.
They might as well add in liverpool only interested if Utd include Gary Neville :D
Rooney? be wearing Blue by January... Chelsea :(
As good as he is, i don't think he would fit into the Chelsea setup.
We don't need him anyway.
I bet he has a clause in his contract anyway that if he gets sold he can't go straight to a rival.
Lots of clubs have that in contracts.

It's funny how all the players who were considerably better than average when we finished 2nd in the league are now classed as average by most people. Personally I would have Reina in my World Class player list of three, but we also have a number who have previously and should now be performing better. Annoying thing is that we had did have five with Alonso and Mach, but them days are gone.
Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Kuyt, Maxi, Meireles, Jovanovic, Cole and Carra are all top class players, all bar Carra and Cole are first choice for their country in their position. Others such as Ngog, Lucas and Babel have failed to live up to their potential, funny thing is that a season ago Man U fans were saying the same about Nani and Tottenham fans about Bale. Not for one second saying that our three will work out, just that things can change.
Personally my view is that the squad we have should be challenging the top four. Only Chelsea and Man City have full squads of World Class players, Arsenal, Man U and Tottenham are all a way off that yet, just like us.

Please. Just stop.
Attract big names? About the biggest one we have attracted out of your list is Rooney. We got Ronaldo for 12million and Beckham came through the academy and Ruud came at a bargain price.
We aren't an Arsenal or any other feeder club because we've been successful with our players - even if they have been sold off.
Now: "United aren't going anywhere fast..." We've had one season where we didn't win any major silverwear and it's all doom and gloom and herping and derping.
Take a deep breathe and start thinking rationally - that goes for the other trolls in this thread as well.

Yeah but Alonso, Mascherano and Benayoun and gerrard made an awesome Midfield.
Carragher is 2 years older and struggling to keep pace and Agger isn't on form either and hyppia was good as well.
Torres isn't on form/fit?
It all adds up.
You can't sell your midfield and not replace it with the same standard or not add to the defence, as you see what happens.
You can't score often and it doesn't matter how good the goalie is, if he has a crap defence.
I think Rooney's lying personally and he's been tapped up by City. However, if those comments speed up the Glazers exit in any way then he's it can only be a good thing

One point of view is if fergie and gill knew on the 14th Aug that he wanted to leave due to the clubs lack of ambition why didnt they
a, Sell him
b, Spend some of the "loads of cash in the bank" we supposed to have?
Instead they left it, spent no money and now leaves Utd's best player unable to play for the team before we have to sell at a cut price in January :( but the Glazers have been on the phone so no doubt Fergie will have £5 to spend on another "prospect" in January....

Here's a read on why he wasn't sold
Im an ex-follower of football, my team were Liverpool but i can never deny the class of Ferguson as a manager and Utd are damn lucky to have him, despite the (very) few naysayers. He knows what he's doing and Utd will win a lot more trophies in the coming years, no doubts there.
Such is the way the game is driven by money, simpley leaving Rooney in the reserves is not an option. Its a shame that he thinks Utd need to buy big to win big, thats simply not the case as their trophy cabinet attests to, a large proportion of which was won with a bunch of kids brought through the ranks.
Hes a thicko to think he will have it any better football-wise anywhere else, he certainly wont be playing in the UK straight away, Utd wont allow that.

He just reminds me of a farmer...
Lets be serious, there are only 3 clubs he is likely to go too:
Real Madrid, Barca and Man City. Personally I could understand the lad wanting to move abroad. Look at all the media trouble that he has been in and it is a surprise he hasn't already gone. Add in that Man U isn't in the best hands at the minute (Glazers not Fergie) and they are refusing to replace key players who leave or are past their best. The sad thing is that I think City are the most likely as he is a greedy little toad (already shafted Everton at the first opportunity).
the toffees were in no position to say no to the best part of 30m over 3 years, it got them out of the red off the bat and then the last 2 payments built the squad they have today. do you think they would of gotten 1st refusal on so many man u rejects if not for the rooney deal? they did well out of him going as they now have a team, not rooney +10.
anybody with half a brain can see whats going to happen, if rooney comes out and says anything in the press ferhie will show him the door like the rest. then he will play the "noone is bigger than the club" card which we all know, by club means fergie.
tbh i think if they can 50m for him now they should grab it, that young mexican lad they got in the summer looks a better player to me and im sure fergie has a few other iron in the fire he would like some cash to get too.
the only thing they would miss is the shirt sales as rooneys name on the back sells.

Would love to know what Fergie said to him?
I guess they offered him the £200,000 a week then.
People were having a protest outside his house last night...was fairly funny to watch
I guess they offered him the £200,000 a week then.
Fergie would never have agreed to that. probably on the rumoured £150k with extra bonuses.
If the clubs successful then he's successful.
Just goes to show Managers win trophy's not just cash. :thumb:
Can't seeing being on anything like what he would have got at City, so does this mean he was telling the truth and has now had his 'assurances'.
Great news anyway, best of all I don't have to burn the signed Rooney photo hanging on the wall in my office !
