I recently bought a 2nd HD4670 for my 2nd HTPC (Sapphire HD4670 Ultimate passive cards) So I wondered how these two cards would perform in Crossfire

So I stripped one form each of my HTPCs and installed them into my sig rig. (Both HTPCs are P35 so would be PCI-E 16x + 4x and the sig rig is PCI-E 8x x2)

Here they are installed :-

So I ran 3D mark06:-

3D mark Vantage

and Lost Planet 2:-

test B

I find the results quite a disappointment, I thought they would perform a little better.

Anyway stuck my BFG GTX260OCX Maxcore back in and ran the same tests.

Think I will stick with my GTX for now and keep the HD4670s for media playback

gtx 260, still a monster :D

great illustration of how SLI'd/xfiring two cheap cards generally doesn't beat the same single solution card cost wise.

They look very nice indeed in x fire anyhow :)

I had really thought that they would perform a lot better than they did...

yes the GTX260 is still a great card, and for my minimal gaming needs more than ample
