Decided I am going to get an HTC Desire HD in the next couple of weeks, its available on Orange and Vodafone with contracts that are basically the same for £30 a month and free phone.

Checking coverage for my home and work addresses they are similar with Vodafone slightly ahead (but not enough to make them the only choice).

So which company are you with, which is the better network (Ive been on T-mobile and O2 for as long as I can remember), and which would you say I go for?

Orange, they just signed a deal with T-Mobile.

T-Mobile and Orange masts are now shared between each other, meaning excellent coverage.

+1 This :thumb:

They're essentially the same company now called "Everything Everywhere" :closet

so makes no odds which you choose tbh ;)

When I was with orange I found their CS was quite good where as with vodafone it seems they are script readers

I say orange simply because they have just merged with Tmobile and both companys share transmitters

so you will have more chance of getting a signal

IIRC Vodafone and O2 have an agreement to share certain masts too though. I'd go for voda myself, orange and T-mob have generally terrible signal in our part of the world in East Anglia, where O2 and voda are very good.

I have just switched from 02 to Tmobile

nothing to do with signal 02 give a quality service but even they admitted it was a good deal i was offered by Tmobile couldn't match it at all

what ever way you go if you get signal problems take the phone back within the cool off and end the contract

Wait - when did Orange sign this deal, - cause Orange's coverage in my area is/was terrible, you had to climb a ladder to the roof just to get a signal & i'm not joking either.

Dressed like that, are you sure? Today's the day eh? Good luck. Do you want fries with that?

I say Orange. The deal with T Mobile means excellent coverage and they're supposedly going to be sharing 3G networks with the parent company in the future too. And given that the parent company owns 3 as well then you can expect some pretty descent high quality coverage...

Ended up going on TMobile with the new phone as they offered the best deal I could find :)

Been with both and in my experience Voda is the better network.

Nope its 600mins, 500txts, 1GB internet with free phone. It was the best Desire HD contract I could find - definitely didnt see one with 3gb and free landline.

i've found the deal! but... the handset is £79.99.

even so i'd say its worth that considering free landline and the web n walk plus 3gb gives far far better speeds than the "internet booster" on the 1gb tarif.

I've had a lot of experience with both, mostly from a business standpoint.

Vodafone business will try and shaft you with hidden/misc. charges. I'd avoid them like the plague. Vodafone personal on the other hand, are actually quite good. Good signal and average customer service. I'm with them now.

Orange business is very good, but i found their signal to be abysmal (it could have been my phone (Original Omnia)). Never had them on personal though.

Lastly T-Mobile. Average signal but they seem to make a habbit of being hacked every year or so. Since they've merged with orange i'm hoping they let them do the security side but i've heard their signal is quite good.
