I have recently bought a screen tv and monitor screen with hd ready tv which is 19 inch. The problem is when i connected it to my tower the dvi cable does not fit in to the tower as it is a different shape. i want to know if you can get a different cable that would fit into this and if i can not get i will return the screen.

a DVI cable is a DVI cable, theres only 1 type of DVI cable from what iv heard/seen so you must be trying to plug it onto somthing thats not a DVI slot.

Theres actually 2 micky dvi-i and dvi-d, iirc.

What TV is it and what connections does it have? you could use dvi to hdmi, if its a hi def tv

you sure your not trying to plug a DVI into a VGA? If you are then you should have got a DVI connecter with the graphics card which fits onto the VGA.

Yep, this is true. And they use different sockets too. They look the same, but they actually have different numbers of pins/sticky out bits.

I think it works something like:

DVI-D has less pins as it can only handle a digital signal.
DVI-I can handle both the DVI-A and DVI-D, (both analogue and digital signals) and has more pins.
(DVI-A is basically RGBHV (analogue) signal using a DVI connector)

Yeah, DVI-D is a purely digital signal.. DVI-I carries both the digital and analogue signal (which is basically the same as VGA)
