View Full Version : 2x 17 or 1x 19?
I've got a couple of HP 1710 monitors. 17" decent screens 1280x1024 @ 75hz
Should I use both of them on my PC in dual monitor, or stick with the aria Digimate 19" LCD also 1280x1024@75hz
The downside to the HP's is that they are only VGA whilst the Digimate has VGA & DVI for dual inputs.
Shame I don't have 3 of the HP's really... think that would be the clincher.

19" in the middle flanked by the two 17" screens is what I would do :)

This... but if you've not got the space 2x17" will give you a lot more "estate".
Depends on usage really... if you're mainly a gamer, the 19 will give a nice big gaming experience, but if you're a multitasker then the 17's will be more productive.

well im sure he has room for a 19" and a 17" at least because the extra 2" wont make that much of a difference I wouldn't have thought, use the 19" for videos/games etc and have the 17" for the desktop and such like. also if you do dual monitor I would recommend getting display fusion pro. must have imo for multi screens.

+1.............
I'm running a 5770, which has 1 rgb, 1dvi & 1 hdmi.
I'm not sure if this card can run all three at the same time... Perhaps when I finish getting the parts for the new build and another 5770 for xfire... and not sure I have the room for 3 at the same time.
Besides, either way would be a temp measure as I plan on getting a 22" widescreen monitor in the new year... But I really liked have a dual screen setup before

just get a card for as cheap as possible just for running the extra screen(s) if you want to.

I personally would prefer 1 or 3 monitors. I need 1 monitor cetralised.
i have 2X 17, but really its 17 + 16. the CRT is slightly smaller than the flatpanle so that makes it 16.
its nice as the 17 has the task bar on it where the 16 doesn't this makes it perfect. kinda hard to explain but it works grate.
Research shows that having dual monitor makes you at least 20% more productive - so dual for me anytime...
Well, sold one of the 17's through my club... so if I don't sell the other one soon and I get around to sorting out my desk. I may just check out a dual setup and see how I feel. When I was staying with the folks for a while between selling one home and buying another. I had the PC on the 19" but also hooked up to the 32" TV and did like that, movie/tv shows playing on one whilst browsing... But having TV/Movie on a 17/19 4:3 isn't as nice... perhaps if I just stick to old 4:3 tv shows and movies. :)

Stopped running dual monitors here as my GTX260 switches to 3D mode when running 2 screens!
More heat, more noise, more power usage :(
i run msi afterburner set drop as low as the slider will go in idle mode :P

Well, if you will use a poncy graphics card you've only got yourself to blame ;)

lol.
5770 should allow you to have 3 monitors for eyefiinity. you just need to buy an active displayport adaptor, which probably would cost more than the 2 17inch monitor you are selling. :(
Looks like the car is costing less to fix than I originally thought... So got my eye on a second 5770 for xfire.
Board I have sat here, CPU and Ram on their way... just have to figure out if the 600W thermaltake PSU is enough for xfire. 5770's are supposed to be 108w max, 955 is 95w, 3 hard drives (2 samsung eco F3) and 2 DVD RW.

600w is plenty for that system mate
Well plans out the window... was expecting a bill of about £125 on the car today and it was £200. Still need to spend another £150 to pass the MOT as it needs front tyres.
All in all this has been an expensive 2 months... £350 spent on the bathroom last month and £650 on the car this month if I include the £200 insurance renewal for the next 12 months.
The pitfalls of owning a older classic Japanese sports coupe with a big thirsty V6. :)
Mind you... I'd rather give up one of the PC's than the car. :)
Still... managed to buy the following of some people on here.
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO - £42
AMD Phenom 955 £65
4GB OCZ 1600 DDR3 £50
I can reuse the rest from my current system and see a significant improvement... and add some more at a later date... Got a few things to sell myself to raise some more cash... Picking up another car as a breaker next week, it helps keep my members cars on the road and it's being given to me for free... Which is worth a few hundred quid in parts.
Swapped out the 19" for the two identical HPs today and I'm kinda liking it... Just struggling to get the colour/contrast/brightness identical on both screens.
put the lot in the brown recycle bin on collection night and buy this
