View Full Version : Unable to access a TP link wireless access point
Using the default ip address for the tp link router i have never been able to connect to its settings page
now that it is not allowing access to the wireless internet using the code for the security level it was set with when when we got it
this has become much more of a problem
any ideas as to what to do?
is it borked?
Have you tried another computer on the network? What error message does the browser give?
Can you not attempt a factory reset of the router? There's usually a hole on the back you can poke. Said the actress to the bishop.

Yes
it just says cannot display this webpage doesnt even get round to asking me for a username or a password :(
i hate my sister (shes who the wireless access point is for/used by, she expects me to able to magically fix it)

there is a reset button but it only seems to turn it on then off again
no factory reset option
its probably in the settings i cant access
Use the address and password that is likely written on the bottom - then change it.
You must use a cable.

Try holding it in for about 20 seconds before releasing it. My Thompson one needs you to hold it for that long before it'll factory reset.
If that doesn't work, try unplugging the routers power cable, and then holding the reset button in while powering it back on again.

When its turned on, hold the reset button in the back for 30s.
Then turn it off and on again.

192.168.1.1 defo using this ip? from IE
Aye, make absolutely sure you're attempting to connect to the right IP address.
While connected to the router via ethernet open a command prompt and do ipconfig /all
The 'Default Gateway' address is the one you're after.

With TP stuff you have to reboot after connecting or disconnecting a LAN cable to any port (found out the hard way).
The manual gives a web address and an IP address; the IP address is usually the one that works for me.
Needs to be on the same range as PC bro

Sean, I have TP Link routers, and they wont talk to you after plugging or unplugging any LAN cables, until you have rebooted them. Not just one router, but two different models (one "N" spec, and one Extended Range "G" spec), so have I managed to buy two different pieces of duff kit??

with Gav on that one, as i can also be 192.168.1.0, 192.168.0.1, 192.168.2.1, 192.168.2.0, seen so many different you never know ;)
i had a similar problem with my belkin a while back, i could only ever access the settings if i was directly connected to that router with it unplugged from the 1st router with no one else on it. Was wierd, i couldnt access it through the 1st router or connected via. wireless. But since got another netgear, i can access both of them from wireless, even if im not connected to the router, very wierd :knock:

Must have, would you like me to film myself doing it?
