Hi there.

Neither are really good gaming cards, but out of the two the 4650 would be a lot better for low-end gaming. If you can stretch to a 4670 or 5570, then these two would be much better again, although neither seem to be available for less than £60 these days. Either way, look at the 512MB models if they are significantly cheaper - you won't notice any benefit from the extra RAM on a 1GB card at this level.

It would also help to post the rest of your system specs so that people can give you more accurate advice. In particular, what processor you have, what the resolution of your monitor is (or at least the size), and what power supply is in your PC (if you're not sure of this, turn the PC off, take the side cover off and look at the label on the side of the PSU. A model model number would be very helpful, but at least the wattage please).

Hi mate, depending on what psu you have and if you can stretch your budget, i'd get this:

Definitely avoid the HD 5450 then. It's about the same level as your current card as far as raw gaming power goes (albeit capable of running much more modern games as it's a much newer card).

The 4650 is definitely the better budget option of the two, but Zaim's suggestion is also a good one as long as your PSU is capable. If you've never changed the PSU though, I doubt it's good enough for the 4850.

I'd say your low speed processor will also be holding you back a bit (it's an E6300, running at 1.86Ghz), but that shouldn't matter with the games you're playing - they're all older games aimed at P4 single core processors anyway.

Yeah, a 4650 or 4670 is the way to go for your needs, if you can grab one as cheap as possible. Anything faster will need a PSU upgrade, and be held back by your CPU anyway.

I would get some more RAM too, maybe another 1 or 2 gigs

i have been looking into what you guys have suggested and tbh i really think i might as well try and save up for a new desktop with better specs because I think it will cost to much to upgrade this desktop and with only one wage coming in and 2 kids and also not very good with computers i think the best way is to buy a new desktop.
I say this because i think i will have to get new processor, psu, motherboard and graphics card so basically it would be cheaper and worth while to just buy a new desktop.

True. If you can't make sense of the numbers though, here's a more simplistic look at how "good" a card is at gaming compared to others:

The higher up the chart the better. The 1650 SE isn't on the chart, but it should be below the 1650 pro.
