View Full Version : friends old laptop, flashing lights, no power tho ?

Ok guys got a brain tickler for you. My friend and me found his old laptop in his random crap box.

Its an advent 7113. Intel celeron m, 1gb ram, 15.4, card reader, 80gb hard drive. Not a bad little spec.

We asked how much parts would be worth as i cant get the machine workin.

Right i have progress. Power cable in, nothing, battery in nothing.

So i tore it all down, cleaned out all the crap and put back together, now we get an orange blinking battery light.

Tried all the tricks, remove the battery and power, hold the power key to release any electricity. Just with the power cord. Just with with battery. With a another psu.

This think just will not power on. He said it done it one day after working, and he just never touched it again. Went and bought a pc.

Now the light shows me the machine is getting power, so Surely there is something else i can try or do to it

Any suggestions


EDIT, It has a cracked screen, i have it vga to the tv :)

Reset BIOS and see what happens, then try spare RAM.

Is it nVidia graphics?

no idean about the graphics, will reset the bios and try some diff ram, see if we can get anywhere

Can you see the chipset next to the CPU? Does it say nVidia on it? if it does then the laptop is prolly dead

Ok its an Intel 943GML

I tried the ram out, different ram, took out the cmos for 20 mins, and still nothing, blinking orange light.

Just incase my charger was the problem ive ordered another one. If it works, yey, if not guess ill always have a spare charger.

Was using a fujitsu siemens charger, was 20v 3.25 mah same as the charger this one is meant to have and the charger seemed to be the same size.

After i try another charger im not to sure what to do with it after that. If it works yey, new screen and fully working laptop.

If not, not sure there is much else i can try.
