View Full Version : Palit GTX 460 question
Will the following GPU be compatiable with my current mobo(see sig)?
Palit GeForce GTX 460 768MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
I wonder this because under the spec it says "- Form Factor: ATX"
Your board has a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot so it should be fine.
The ATX bit is probably due to the height more than anything?
As said if your motherboard has a x16 pci express slot then it should work perfectly.
Ye don't worry about it too much, just worry about if it fits in the case or if it'll be cool enough. I rekon that motherboard should be no problem at all as long as you have that PCI-Expressx16 slot.

I swear i've seen people on here or bit-tech say they've had heat issues with the Palit?
I was gonna get one but have been put off and probably gonna switch to the Gigabyte

Ive read quite a bit about them and seem quite good from what i have read. My mate bought a palit 9800gt 1gb card and never had any issues with it.

Yeah I saw speeds were good in reviews (can't remember if that was the Platinum) but people were saying the fan isn't particularly good

Got one of the 1GB Palit cards, not had a problem so far. Fan is audible but quiet enough. It's probably not the best card for overclocking, but then it's not a 'top end' card and the cost reflects that - just running at stock speeds I don't have any problems to report.

Yeah, i'm trying my balls off trying to find this thread to see what exactly they were saying. More than likely it was a bunch of guys OCing to the max:lol:

yeah i dont think the fans would be that great overclocking the card as high as possible. If you cant find it dont worry dude, thanks tho
Bittech is a global site so they were most likely talking a bout a very small number of Palit GTX460 that were shipped missing a heatsink on the rear of the card.
AFAIK it was literally a few hundred.

True true.
Quickly looked on tomshardware and people were sending back their Palits for EVGAs due to high temps without OCing.
But as you said, could be a small number of issues in the grand scheme of things. From my experiences, people are more likely to complain than express satisfaction :(
I have a palit GTX 460 768MB Never had a problem with it, bloody good card!

Sweet, i'm in two minds as whether to OC or not.
It's a dirt cheap card and it's speed seems to be good. Heard Palit maybe upgrading the fan on it.
Hmmmm what to do....
