I imagine they will be a bit cheaper than that on the 12th or 17th when the 6 series starts to launch.

Very good - the 5870 price hasn't really changed too much since launch until the last month or two has it!

The 6xxx series is being presented in the next couple of weeks, and then with public availability at the end of the month AFAIK.

Well they said 12th, then its supposed to be the 17th, haven't heard if its gone back again.

It'd be interesting to see how the 6XXX performs.
It'll be more interesting to see 5850's come down to hopefully 150 pound, they'd make a massively impressive crossfire investment. The same could be said with SLI and GTX470's if Nvidia lower the price to counteract the 6XXX launch.

i've only just got 2 msi 460's. at the time i thought the 6xxx series was way off but now it looks like i'll be selling the 460's at a cut price. serves me right for jumping in.:)

I imagine I'll just stick with the 5970.
My next upgrade will most likely be either a 7870 or a 7850.

i think i will go from the 5970 to the 6970 variety if the numbers are good, oh how good i am with money....

Lol won't be buying something like that just yet, awesome price though, only let down is XFX :(. For some reason I don't like them anymore since nVidia gave them the boot.

time for crossfire?

or 6970?

not fan of multi-GPU, let's hope ATI's next best chip can drive 2560x1440 for all games. the 5870 in my rig sure can't.

the 6870 is actually the replacement for the 5770 not the 5870, amd have decided to rearange the naming scheme for whatever reason and the 6870 is suppossed to be around £150 at launch.

so basically we will be getting a card that performs roughly on par with the 5870 for £150??

It's more like 5850 performance lol apparently. Probably overclockable to 5870 performance.

what i thought. from early benchmarks, it's just a tiny bit off 5870.

we'll see how 6970 performs, hopefully it'd be fast
