What would be the best free alternative to Nero Burning Rom.

All I will need to do with it is burn data cds/dvds, burn mp3 cds and burn dvd files to dvds so they play in standalone players.

Cheers

imgburn is the best free but i really like ashampoo as its like what nero was before it was filled with all the bloatware.

Try Nero 10, its much better than 8 and 9. I just started using it from Nero 7

7 was the start of the bloatware, ashampoo is like it carried on from 6, it just burns data to disk.

Another vote for CDBurnerXP here - it seems very similar to the old Nero Burning Rom. FileHippo has a good CD/DVD Burning section with good shareware and freeware

I can fully understand wanting to switch from Nero, the amount of bloatware is horrendous with a different program for each thing to do. I think that powerISO might do what you need, I think its free but that might just be the demo :S

Still using Nero 7 here.

I just do a very minimalist install, just Nero burning Rom, Nero Vision and the tools.

use ashampoo, they do a free version

i changed from nero to this as there is no crap with ashampoo, just does it happily :)

If you want to deal with lots of iso files i would use imageburn for that.

+1 on imgburn.
simple, and the guy who wrote it is a total CD/DVD-R/RW freak. more minute options than you can imagine yet is totally simple to use. same guy who wrote DVD-Decrypter, but now focuses his efforts on creation. and it's tiny too, no bloat

InfraRecorder Portable is the one I use, because it is portable. Otherwise imgburn.

For burning ISO, nrg, cue/bin, img, etc then imgburn is the best app free or not.

For a Nero alternative (i.e. data and music disks) then CDBurnerXP is the best.
