Hi all,

Got a friends laptop here which I'm trying to upgrade the memory on. It has 2x256 PC2700 sodimm. I've got hold of 1gb of PC3200 sodimm, but the notch is in a different place and wont fit.

Any ideas?

Grrr never mind, looks like 2700 sodimm and 3200 sodimm arent as compatible as in desktops.

are you sure the pc3200 you have is not ddr2 that's the only reason the notch would be in a different place

milk is right you must have ddr 1 and ddr 2, ddr1 memory is very hard to get these days you should do a crucial scanhttp://www.crucial.com/uk/?click=true . (http://www.crucial.com/uk/?click=true)
hope this helps

Certain models of Dell laptop computers may experience various system instabilities under certain conditions, ranging from blue-screen errors, to the system becoming unresponsive, or an inability to properly resume from the Suspend or the Standby mode.

In my experience Dells are far more tolerant to differing situations than most other makes.
I can make meaningless generalisations as well!!

Probably too late by the looks of it, anyhow Types of laptop memory (RAM) modules (http://www.laptopmemoryupgrades.co.uk/laptop-memory-upgrades-guide/types-of-laptop-computer-memory-modules) seems like it could help you.

Always check the manual for it. If you don't have the manual with you, look for it on the internet.
