Now I know what you are thinking - "OMG?! WTF are they thinking?! The Thing is awesome how dare they!"
That's what I was (and still am until I see it) thinking - but read the above link. Sounds interesting.
I think it will be pretty good.
I like how it isn't an American remake.
says its a prequel yet the pictures and plot look almost exactly the same as the original...
Loved the Thing, I really hope they don't destroy it.
If you've watched the original there is a helicopter chasing a dog at the start of the film, the helicopter cam from a norwegian base near to the US research one.
The prequel is about what happened at the norwegian base.
looks good love that old film, might dig it out again

sounds ok so far although not sure what to make of it if a lot of the dialogue is in Norwegian but equally intriguing was this snippet "and we have the rights to another one of his movies that we might remake, They Live [At the time, They Live was still undergoing script rewrites.]" never realised they were doing that as well

Hopefully this will be good as the John Carpenter movie was amazing.
The JC version wasnt the original, it was a remake of 'the thing from another world' 30 years before it. Both are based on a book, 'who goes there'
Personally i think the JC version is best, i dont think they need to make this new film as we already know how it ends (everyone at the first base dead) so basically its just gonna be a gore-flick for the sake of making a gore-flick.
I think the makers have seen how Predator is still being raped for cash and think they can milk 'the thing' to the same end.
It wont work IMO.
Everyone knew how Titantic was going to end, it had been made plenty of times before and it still went on to be one of the most successful films ever.
We have no idea how it ends, theres a few dead at the base, 2 or 3 pursued the dog/wolf in the chopper, we don't know how many there were to start with.

Yeah we don't "really" know how that base turned out - obviously they die but what was it like discovering this thing? And how did it go about? Should get to see it in its true form too - which might be crap. Also will be interesting to see the chopper chase at the end.
I just hope they don't have a huge arsenal of weapons.
Best thing about The Thing was no CGI. The head sprouting eyes on stalks and legs and then scuttling off was just pure awesome. I seriously doubt a cinimatic moment will ever compare to that.
