View Full Version : Motherboards - 900MHz+ Memory
is it me or is there not many motherboards that support more than 800MHz memory?
Iv been looking at 775 Motherboards and i can only see 1 mothboard that supports higher than 800MHz Memory :(
It just means that your memory will overclock flawless to the higher speed :)
LOADS support memory speed of over 800mhz. Just cos the specs on websites say it only supporst 800mhz doesn't necessarily mean they do, bios changes etc. My mobo supposedly only supports upto 800 but i know for a fact i can select higher.
Example of the P5B deluxe bios. Which apparently only supports 800mhz memory, even according to Asus' website.

oh cool, i have the P5W DH Delux which is better than yours :p  so im guessing i can stick these 900Mhz sticks in then.
Think you will find that is a matter of opinion as to which is "better" your might have 1 or 2 extra twiddly bits but mine overclocks like a biatch which is more important to me :P, and yes the memory will work fine in your mobo.
lol, Mac your going to have to teach me to overclock my CPU somtime ;)
You need a better mobo first ;)
lol yea of course i do :p
what you got your CPU overclocked to?
also do you have watercooling?
MAc has a beast system with wc and a 3.6 c2d
cool, i have a E6600 aswell, want to over click to 3.6 aswell but dont have a clue what settings to change in BIOS, also he has water cooling so im guessing i carnt go to 3.6, maybe 3.2??
My gaming pc's spec is in my sig Micky, alot depends on your cpu, i think i got a fairly good one as it doesn't need much extra voltage to achieve a stable 3.6ghz, 1.475v core iirc, some need upto 1.6v and for that you would most definately need water or phase but personally i wouldn't go much over 1.5 on air. You can't really say you need XYZ cooling it all depends on the pc / cpu you are working on some cool better than others.
Here you go Micky have a read of this your mobo should have a similar bios have a poke around and play, just find out how to reset the cmos first though and don't go mad with the voltages, if you do and you DO damage anything its not my fault, i don't mind helping but i wont overclock it for you, you need to do some home work too.
