I'm hoping DT gets to view this as he is pro ;P

Anyway, I need to know how to make a FTP account for a user. And for that user to be pointed to a certain directory.

Thanks

You have to have FTP software,

This looks like a good guide. http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/rhel-fedora-centos-vsftpd-installation.html

Smifis post is the best way to do it. But why centos?

It's the most popular OS for webservers. Why? Beats me

I suppose it is very stable with a slow release cycle, but so's debian.

It has 'enterprise' in the name, which probably makes it an easier sell to management :P.

easiest way is to install Webmin, install Proftpd and roberts your mothers brother :)

Ofc, that will also mean binding the webmin port, ip and opening up the port on the firewall :)

Centos comes from a lot of dedicated server providers when you order the system, especially on the cheaper ones as it's nice and stable and as you've pointed out, not too many updates to manage.

lunch break, I'll nip on MSN for you Jackster :)

Thanks DT,

I use CentOS at its the most stable and most supportive.

I also used it as a main operating system when i was 8 as i couldn't afford OVER PRICES windows...
