I am considering using a co.cc address for url forwarding. When you sign up it says you get a year for free.

I can't find anywhere what happens at the end of the year. Does it start to cost?

I thought it's free forever.

I've used .cjb.net not sure if thats site still active, i'm talking 7ish years back :D

Free forever, but you get an advertising banner. Also, the url always remains the same on the site.

Try .tk, they cost something like 50p a year to get rid of the ads, and you can pay by text, which is cool.

I may well look at using .tk .

Unless I just pay up and get a co.uk.

This

It's only about £7/2 years if you look for it.

as far as im aware the co.cc are free for a year, then you just have to re-register it and its free again? Never come across any costs myself, and if push comes to shove, they dont have any details to bill anyway ;)

theres also .co.nr and .tk

Co.CC for non commercial use is free for life.

Commercial is 3 bucks a go.

Faz, There are no ads in .TK domains...... That's web host side.

Na , I got a banner when I used it. I found my ad blocker blocked it fine, but when I did it on public computers there was always a top banner, not part of the page, but like an overlay.

.TK never have had ads put on their network.

I call nonsense.

I had a .tk once.

It had a header on all my pages with their logo and loads of adverts :knock:

I'm using it ATM and don't seem to get a header.

.TK never have had ads put on their network.

Definite nonsense, they certainly had them at one point, I am absolutely certain.

With .co.cc if you get no hits after a amount of time they take the url offline

Jackster

It doesnt matter if you get any hits with CO.CC

You have the domain for a year and you can renew it after that.

You are thinking of .TK, After 90 days you need at least 25 hits.

Also, This is a 2 week old topic, If you are trying to get your "post count" up.... Well you might want to stop. You will get to 500+ one day.
