Beacuse the ball bearing has gone? (how old)
Or its on 12v instead of like 7? which is unsual because mine was on 12v and was perfectly quiet. (cpu or gfx?)

Well zalmans hardly go that fast i thought, quiet being the aim, your mobo should have the controlls, by the way what temperatures and what proc?

P4 are generally very hot chips, they can go upto 50 before they turn themselves off for protection, cant you adjust your fan in the bios?

Oh you have a 478, is your case quiet generally? if so then maybe its just the fan speed, be glad you dont have the socket 775 stock cooler they whine and annoy me a lot.

My Zalman us really loud too, at 800rpm with my MFC2 and it's near silent. Doesn't push as much as my Yates at the same speed though (and the Yates were cheaper).

Track down an Arctic Freezer 4? - Can't recommend thier CPU coolers highly enough, no bells or whistles, just quiet, professional performance - usually keep my temps on all the sockets (478, 939 and 775 flavors) at around 35 degrees.

26167 is apparently 478 compatible - which Zalman are you using?
