The 2500K would still trash it tbh, I reckon with mine at 5Ghz and a 3Ghz+ NB the 2500K will still be a good 25-30%+ faster.

This 1075T flies though at 5Ghz, Did have it at 5.2Ghz IBT stable but because I've just moved to 4x8Gb RAM sticks it's put extra strain on the IMC so I've had to drop the clocks.

Here's a updated picture with the Asus Direct CUII GTX 570, cable management is still very poor at the moment, been very busy with Uni work. I couldn't fit the card in with the hdd cage, had to modify it slightly (move it across abit more) Couldn't get rid of it since Its full of HDD's :D

Yeah and surprisingly the temps etc are brilliant (Currently Idling at 28c). I can't move the soundcard to the first PCI-E 1x slot since the CPU cooler is too close to it, even If i move the graphics card down to the second pci-e 16x slot it'll be too close to the PSU, Really don't like the layout on this board.

If Scam decide to screw me over with the TF3 (fan issue's) I'll be running both cards in SLI for a bit, does mean i'll lose the sound card :cry

It's not my sound card lol. They sound fine, but I'm used to Corsair SP 2500's for bass, so the HS1A's seem lacklustre in comparison, I'm also not the only one to mention about the H1SA's lacking bass from the get go.

I'm sure Zod would agree?

Raikiri
25-11-11, 18:04
It is indeed, the shroud blocked the only two S-ata ports I had access to (the other were blocked by the card/cooler) on my old motherboard so I removed it.

As the sytem is black/blue/white I decided to leave it off, as it wouldn't fit in at all.

zoomee
08-12-11, 09:26
Because he could :scratch

LOL :)

Couple of reasons
A)- To see if air cooling could handle my OC (which it couldn't)
B)- To downsize the case - My previous setup was a 120.3 (nowhere to put this) along with a DDC + XSPC Res top (nowhere to put this either in a 650D).

You know what they say - Once you go water, you don't go back :P

Have never liked Dual screens, I think stick with one or go to three.

I agree. I was never going to say no to a free 2nd one, but I definitely NEED a third now! Perhaps it's Ians setup that has made me even more jealous!

Quick question though, I will use logic to understand that I will need an extra GPU for a third monitor - so does it have to be the same model as my current one, or can I get a cheap second one?

Avro
17-12-11, 14:20
It has to be the same card, can be a different manufacturer but the only thing a different card can do is help it's performance.

In what way can't you run two different cards?

I understand there can be issues with drivers so you have to use the same make ie nvidia/ati but you can certainly use different cards........ unless that is only in linux.

LOVE this cooler so much, looks like a beast in my rig and with the slogan outside the window 'Tuf Inside' it really aint lying! lol. Getting extremely good temps off it im at 4.4ghz and when heavy gaming the very max I reach is just under 50 degree's, but for the most part it stays at around 38! running prime for ages it gets to the high 50's but doesnt reach 60 at this clock, really pleased with it. Big thanks to Helios aswell :thumb: Ive always been a fan of this cooler since I first saw it and he made it possible to have :)

(And if your wondering what the mini GPU is its a 5570 I won from the guys at Vortez, helped me get my rig up and running early and its a suprize what it can do!!! plays the usual steam games at max 60 fps and 1080p, and MW3 near max settings, also NFS the run at max [well it is a pure console port lol] and even BF3 @ 720p and on high (still looks really good) a little mini powerhouse! lol, will sit very nice in my lil bro's rig once my card arrives)

PCplod
23-12-11, 14:43
It is a beast, I think once I get my GPU in there and take some pics in the light you'll be able to see really how big it is lol (although the card im getting is a monster in size too...)

Its not the very best performer and a couple of degree's behind the Silver Arrow and D-14 under heavy loads (There's a review and comparison of it here http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/alpenfoehn_k2_cpu_cooler_review,1.html) but for me the looks of it more than make up for that, I dont really need the most performance anyway, a few degree's wont really make a difference for me all I do is play games and stuff im never really pushing my CPU to the max on tests and what not.

Also it is completely silent, the fans are just running @ 450-600 rpm (even at load) and they are dead silent, thats with those temps aswell, if I put it on turbo mode @1000+ rpm all you can hear is a woosh of air the temps are better but for what im doing they are already very cool so no need.

Got my Graphics card and mines all done :) very happy indeed, the card is a beast over 30cm long and extremely wide (only about 4cm from the side of the case) and heavy, had to position the power cables to help support the weight and not droop atall. I got some sound proofing sheets and decked it out (also makes it look quite nice and neat) and the thing is pretty much silent, all I can hear is air moving even while playing BF3 on max.

Again pics are poor taken with an Iphone but will do lol

(oh yeh had to use the 6 tp 8 pin converter because its a 16 pin card!!)

http://i39.tinypic.com/1z66xb8.jpg

The card is definitely the best looking I have seen!! Its a shame it isnt upside down so you can see the full beauty of it lol

http://i41.tinypic.com/51atko.jpg

And heres how I mounted the fan to get clean air straight to the CPU cooler (resulting in extremely good temps)
Just pretty simple really a bit of plastic glass and some no nails sticky tape lol, atm I still have thge drive covers on because the Shinobi as you know has strips of vents down the sides, but I have some mini circle grill on order to put in place.

http://i39.tinypic.com/wbcewo.jpg

Overall extremely happy, can play all games at max settings and 1080p, BF3 in mp sometimes turn a few minor things down to keep 60 fps but for the most part it is beastly and I havent overclocked it yet, but apparently it overclocks like a complete Mofo. Now I just need that beast Asus Soundcard (the £150 one) and some Headphones and im sorted :D

Turn your cpu cooler 90 degrees so it blows towards the rear of the case, should improve cooling/temps on the cpu and generally temps around the case.

Apart from that looks nice.

My current system as per sig. I would try and do more cable management but not a lot i can do with my case without modding and i will be getting a new one. Also this was done fairly quickly when i got a motherboard back from RMA and found it worked when i had tested it outside the case and wanted to get it in my case ready to install windows.

I do hope to upgrade this year so things will probably change.

i have known a few to fail

i would not trust them one bit
I've seen a few that failed but so far mines is working really good so no need to ditch it for the moment. If/when i upgrade though i might squeeze in a new cooler into my budget once i know the case i might have.

Bitfenix outlaw same as you...

For my window I used some edging trim stuff off eBay and a bit of tinted acrylic my dad nabbed from his work and some thick doublesided tape used for numberplates to stick the window in.

Can I ask why you've mounted your 212+ that way round rather than the usual vertical manner?

Better airflow. The 3 fans surrounding the cooler are all extracting heat away from the heatsink. With it vertical the top fans are fighting with the cpu fan to draw the air out rather than it naturally flowing out. It dropped the temp a couple of °C having it this way.

I honestly didn't think it was going to fit at all.
Although that case isn't going to be used in my mates PC, rather the HAF 912 which is sitting next to me, and my friends motherboard is a different Asus Z68 one. I'm using the fractal and Gene Z for other reasons.
Fractal arc ATX version is awesome, although I was expecting the Midi to turn up at my door.

watercooled
26-01-12, 22:53
i no what you mean
i had to take out the top HD bay to fit a 5870 then squeeze the HD bay back, in i must of been so close to breaking something as i was using some force lol

for the money those fractal cases are solid

i moved the front intake fan upto the top and replaced the intake with a sickleflow

I'm actually very jealous at his rig for some reason, I think I'd much prefer something like his, except watercooled, with a 7970 :p
You don't know how tempting it is for me to sell up some of my stuff, get a gene Z etc.

But this case is absolutely fantastic, I'd love one myself.

There are 3 fans blowing cool air into the bottom of the case. One on the side one on the bottom and a front fan. I was getting better temps with it like that. But it does not really matter too much as it's in bits on my desk awaiting delivery of an Arc Midi, Corsair H100 and a rebuild hopefully tomorrow...:D

Its not much, furthermore my house is being redecorated so its quite dirty atm but heres my build which my HAF922 that I did some work on.
ASUS P7P55D Pro
Intel Core I5 750 OC@3.7Ghz
ASUS GTX560
Corsair XMS3 4GB RAM, (My Vengeance stuff broke)
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W PSU
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtream Audio/Xtream Gamer? Can't remember which
K World Plus TV
In terms of cooling I have that cool Enermax Appolish Vegas fan on the front and Coolermaster Megaflows on top and side, on the bottom I have a Be Quiet 140MM fan but its not particularly quiet so I disconnected it, and on the back I have a Coolermaster Turbine master which is an excellent fan and absoloutely silent.

The Xigamatek Elysium has dust filters, I have no idea why it gets dusty.
Rear is an exhaust.
Top is where my 120.3 rad exhausts
Front near the HDD's is intake, they've got filters.

Not 100% sure on the side intake.
