I loved the case from the moment I saw it, even if it had horrific reviews I still would have bought it :)

I like full tower cases, they offer alot of space and accomidate changes easier then smaller cases (I have big hands so having space to put them inside a PC is a big help)

Think i'm going to sell these air penetrator fans to be honest.. the directed airflow thing doesnt work in this matx case so i'm going back to my original fans tomorrow and if the temps are better im flogging them. :(

Motherboard temps went up by at least six degrees and i think that's because instead of spreading the air out through the case its just directing it one way and it's not really hitting the mobo + i think gfx temps went up also.

Best thing is to just use these as an intake fan really.

Expensive lesson learned, if it aint broke don't fix it.

Unfortunately not for one of this type. I'm the same with stuff being inside not outside but I'm ok with the res being there as it looks kind of cool. Rads on the other hand I hate being outside the case so I kept those inside at the expense of proper hdd mounting - sdd sits on top of the bluray and the hdd is stuck to the bottom of it with super strong double sided foam :D

If you do decide to watercool then my advice would be to plan the hell out of it. I ended up spending more coz I had to buy lots of extra bits that I hadn't planned for. Also don't buy second hand rads off ebay, I ended up having to buy another 240 as my first one leaked :( I may fix it up and put it in my loop but I have no space left to put it lol which leads to another tip, get a full tower case!!

That's the Noctua NH D14 in, that has to be the best air cooler on the market in terms of performance and build quality. Mounting system is really good and one of the easiest compared to other coolers. This cooler is really quiet on full speed, blends in with my case fans, when i take the side panel off you can hear it a little but much much quieter than my old cooler. Cooler covers all 4 memory modules with room to spear, prob 1cm or so. £19 over my original budget but well worth it for £59 imo

My phone's camera flash has spoilt the picture sry.

Now i know why TTL always talks about the D14 :thumb:

Black sata cables would make a big difference fairly easily, as well as sorting out the rear fan's cable and obviously extending the CPU power.

As far as taking photos are concerned, I find that setting my monitor to a completely white screen and facing it towards the PC makes great lighting.

EDIT:

Noticed the some of the cables around the rear fan are also from the top fan? So it's a bit more to hide I guess :P

Haha yes! My eternal struggle with dust! Well on air i had dust filters in the front that were wrapped in tights and the mesh on the side panel was also wrapped in tights. This worked great :D

Now with water i still have the filters up front but no tights on them. The side panel still has the tights but my rear fan/radiator is now an intake and I've yet to get a filter. So far dust isn't bad although i keep fans low most of the time now.

If it kills the PCI-E Slot of the board, reckon they'll cover that?
If it takes something else out, would they cover it?
I'm not sure it's worth the risk really.

They're going to have to step down on these dual cards sooner or later.

tis a shame that AMD boast no real prestigious OEM for their graphics cards. other than sapphire but... i dont really think that a 'decent' board maker counts as a 'prestigious' board maker.

if anything i would say that sapphire ~ zotac

personally i think this lacking in quality from AMD graphics, mainly the reference boards, is a big downer on them.

I've previously had no problems with sapphire and asus ATI cards before. I was just unlucky with my sapphire purchase thats all. It can happen to any vendor really. I do have brand loyalties though namely Sapphire and EVGA and Asus due to the fact they seemed responsive whenever I had problems and needed things checked or sending back.

Aria built this for me so no idea about extra fans. Just played BF:BC2 for 30 minutes and the CPU temps were max at 54-57 which is about 10 less than the old PC so very happy with that. Graphics card top temp was 72.

Screws for teh fans?

I tell you what though - thats some sharp frikkin eyesight you got there dude lol.

I could not for the life in me get them Apaches to screw directly onto the rad. Had to use motherboard standoffs (only had 6 LOL) - screw them into the rad, then use two screws each on the apaches.

Loads of cosmetic inaccuracies (notice one nickel gpu block and one acetal one) but heck - the price I paid for this lot still amazes me - cost me £140 for the watercooling parts and £110 for the case - I can't complain :>

Martin, I thought the 2500k build was going to be for someone else?

Don't say you're actually using an intel processor full time.
I've built three 2500k systems.

One was for a friend, a launch day purchase.

A second went into a 470 SLI build.

And the third is my own.

The 570 is, he sold his 460's for it.

Another shocker in my system is I'm debating getting two 480's or 470's and throwing them under water :p

Whats wrong with your 6870 xfire?
Nothing at all.
With the Sandy Bridge upgrade it's almost as if they've been given a new breathe of life.
Just, at the moment I have my CPU at a 24/7 of 4.8GHZ, I'd like a little extra grunt.. However I know it's pointless.

I'll just wait it out until the new console generation.

But it's more I'm becoming paranoid about VRAM usage, given I like to ramp up AA.

I would if i could :( Bracket dont work that wat. Shedloads of hot air from the GPU goes in there atm.

Goes to show how cool these 2500k's are though, still doesnt get above 80 at 4.8Ghz

Jokerz
19-04-11, 23:18
Really? So the brackets on that HSF is not aligned/symmetrical?

I've not really had the opportunity to see if my GPU is affecting the airflow into the HSF but so far I've not hit over 70 degrees under full load @ 4.8GHz with 2600k.
