Win 7 64 & not valid 32 application

Hi all

Since early wednesday morning i have been having problems.
When i try and run some programs that i have had since installing
win 7 64bit i get a popup is not a valid win32 application and then
windows deleates the exe file without asking.
Never had any problems running the same programs before
this can also happen with the exe file of games.

Also if i copy and paste a folder which has a win32 app to the desktop
or another folder windows will deleate it right away
not just by putting it in the bin but wiped off the pc.

Have you checked the Windows and your AV programs logs?

Sounds a little virus like.

Hell kitchen, sandboxie 64bit,virtual dub 199
also some downloads get deleated as soon as they have downloaded.

microsoft security essentials (upto date ) and
Emsisoft Anti-malware free ( upto date ) both say clean.

Also i run Acronis true image /try & decide so nothing gets installed
Permanently apart from windows update stuff and Emsisoft update.

Windows won't delete your programs just because it's not a valid win32 application, so I suspect virus.

Download Microsoft Security Essentials. Make sure you save it in an easy-to-reach folder like the Desktop, then reboot into Safe Mode with Networking. Once you're in safe mode, run the install and update the virus definitions, then run a complete scan. Do all of this in safe mode.

A good rule of thumb which normally works for me:
If ever you suspect a virus, run a scan in safe mode. Safe mode will usually disable any services that the virus may rely on for that session, making it easier to deal with.

MSE should still run in Safe Mode.

Ran MSE in safe mode reported no virus or spyware
could it be a registry error
or a corrupt system file.
And what would be good tools to check with.

your are joking? AVG? haha.

use either MSE or Avira both free and good. prolem with avira is it detects more false positives but both are great.

+1 i'd try Malwarebytes first, then try Microsoft Security Essentials.

I downloaded PC_Tools_Registry_Mechanic from there website
and as soon as the download finished it got deleted.

@snakedoc if you have the links for
Malwarebyte Antimalware and also ESET online scanner
i will give them a try.

I think i might have found the problem it`s Emsisoft Anti-malware
i download Smart Install Maker from there website

and it was deleted if it`s not to much bother could someone see
if there AV flags it as a virus its only a 1.56mb download.

Another update

It was Emsisoft Anti-malware causing the problems
so i have deleted it.
