The personal details of thousands of Sky broadband customers have been leaked on to the internet, alongside a list of pornographic movies they are alleged to have shared online.

It seems to all revolve around this acs:law company.

Ho hum.. the data's escaped, all of it :D And is now free to download.
Best of all, Ive read its perfectly legal to have the data, as it wasn't acquired unlawfully? Which makes it even better,

ACS are being investigated by the law society over their actions... the company was set up after people left another Solicitors Davidsons to focus on these types of things.

If anyone gets one of these letters, simply ignore it or send it back with a simple statement... 'See you in court'.

They have never taken anyone to court and they never will because they have no evidence to prove it... all they have is a claim of an IP address (that can be faked as a lot of places insert spoof IP information for this very reason). The would have to prove that this particular download was in fact downloaded (which is a civil offence not a criminal one) and if it was uploaded for others (this is a criminal act but it's hard to prove guilt unless there was a financial benefit).

I don't download porn, so I'm not worried about my details being on the list... but ACS are now wide open to fines of upto half a million for the data protection breach and also class action lawsuits from those who's details have been leaked.

It could see the end of ACS law as it gets a taste of it's own medicine.

That'll teach them to mock 4chan... only made them a bigger and more attractive target.
