Fireworks should be banned from public use, the pros do not outweigh the cons.

----------

Pros

Pretty

Cons

Dangerous Explosives that have time and time again caused serious injuries because they're in the hands of the public (and the majority, lets face it, are idiots)

Distressing for animals, theres even been many accounts of animals being frightened to literal death as a result of fireworks.

All too often in the hands of anti-social louts who use them as weapons or to harass people.

----------

Please feel free to add more.

Fireworks could be licensed and strictly controlled, so that they could still be used for large events by professionals (like they tend to do, for stadium openings, olympic openings and closings, when someone wins Big Brother :P)

Guy Fawkes celebrations for those who cannot afford to hire a professional with a fireworks license can still have a bonfire with permission and/or supervision of the local authorities/fire department, so that people can still gather together and burn an effigy or whatever.

Sorry for the rant, im just fed up of seeing fireworks for sale in public shops, which are just as easily acquired by youths as alcohol and cigarettes, should really be ranting to my local MP or something, but i doubt it'd make any difference.

why not just make that 1 day law to buy them

But when where would places like Disney Land get all the fireworks from?

I remember when i was little there was fireworks displays like everyday.

Ipswich Firework Show was complete ****.

Some spotty teens jumping around on the stage, murdering classic Queen tunes. . Disgraceful :(

(Cr@p is a naughty word, Oh My . . .)

Was a pathetic attempt. Last year was worse, some awful James Bond theme.

Where some talentless scab, pretended to fight with some bad guys then blow up a car, releasing the fireworks.

£8 for that, last's about 15 minutes.

OH NO! that sounds shocking! I would grimace watching that, in fact I would probably want my money back and write to the local council to BAN it! :O

They get professional display companies who aren't subject to the law

Health and Safety at Ipswich Firework Show > No Sparklers.

Smoking allowed, and for lit buds to be chucked on the floor around kids. But no a fricking Sparkler.

PC gone mad.
