Hi,

Someones kindly helped me choose these parts for my first new build, its mostly for gaming, music production, and web surfing(on 56k modem until i get broadband:( ).Cant wait to play some old and new games that ive had sitting around, like half life 2!

Please could anyone tell me if it looks ok ? and if theres any bits that could be improved for cheaper but just as good performance?

Looks good to me (but im clueless TBH)

Akasa Zen Silent-Cool - Black £ 25.95
Corsair 450W VX Series PSU £ 34.95
ASUS P5N-E SLi NF650i 775 £ 59.55
OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 Reaper HPC (2x1GB) £ 49.95
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz (775) £ 62.25
250Gb Western Digital Caviar SE SATA 8MB £ 34.55
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB PCI-E £ 65.95

(ive already got soundcards, modem,KB +mse, monitor etc)

thanks :)

Hi and welcome to the forum :) .

Yep all looks good, please note though that if you are considering getting a second graphics card at a later date and using the sli capabilities of your motherboard you will need to get an nvidia graphics card.

The fanboys will tell you the (insert Ati or Nvidia here) cards are better i have used both and tbh other than games optimised for one make of card or the other producing a few more frames per second in said game there is virtually nothing to choose between them. Buy whatever is the best card for your buget, Aria do the 512mb version of the card you chose for £66+vat.

cheers mac + micky,

thanks for the link,it was the best prices i could find too,i got impatient and ordered the whole list from aria yesterday :)

my only problem now,is that ive just realized my old monitor is vga,and i only have 2 dvi outs on the card.I found the aria dvi-vga converter, but im not sure if using one is going to affect the display quality or performance of the card ? im hoping i wont need to buy a new digital monitor as well !

you sound like me lol.

About the VGA problem, you wont have a problem, with the graphics card it will come with 2 VGA Connectors ;)

tis true i have never bought a gfx card with dvi output that didn't come with a dvi to vga adapter so it shouldn't be an issue.

Don't buy the Reaper memory, save yourself £10-£20 and get

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=26802 (http://www.aria.co.uk/forums/../Products/Components/Memory/DDR2/DDR2+800+%28PC6400%29/Patriot+2GB+PC2-6400+C4+Extreme+Performance+%282x1GB%29+?productId =26802)

Its faster than the Reaper (better latency) still has a lifetime warranty and its a great price.
