im well getting the galaxy s for my birthday in october now :D! this will be a good bonus!, and hopefully i will be getting one of the new 6xxx series cards if they come out in october too :D
Time to upgrade the Hero haha.
I cant upgrade my hero, as Ive got ages left in my tmobile contract, but Ill be off to vodafone as soon as the contract ends...
I did want a desire Z, as its got a keyboard, but its slower than a Desire and the Desire Hd, so not sure now, either way I'd only be paying 15-20 quid a month for one with 600 or 900 mins :D
Im really happy that finally they have drawn a line in the sand and cut off the old below 2.0 devices with an actual hardware standard and that the nexus one is that standard.
this should mean that the more powerful phones can finally utilise that power in apps that wont run on a G1 and other 1.6 devices.
There are remifications of this when you look what phones fall below the 3.0 standard! the HTC wildfire for example is out and the not even out yet t-mobile G2 doesnt have a 1ghz cpu! it can do 1ghz but they clock it at 800! same for the soon to be out acer phone and both these phones have the power but not the clock speed so lets see how this pans out.
they havent mentioned 5.1 sound or HDMI which are possible from 3.0 onwards but i dopnt think its backwards compatible i.e. you need 5.1 hardware so the newer scorpion based arm chips not the snapdragons or a8 based ones we all have...
I think its very important that you get the newest version of the OS on your android and its for this reason you should choose carefully and pick a company that will give you the updates asap samsung seem to be doing a great job with android with fast updates and good features like swype which is a bugger to get working on a nexus one btw without rooting it. and the UI doesnt slow it as badly as some others do.
anyways im glad you galaxy fans will get yor updates and that you make the cut for the next gen of android builds as this is where android stops catchign up and overtakes apple and leaves them in the dust!
p.s. i started building my first android app today wish me luck...
Don't tell me this will be done through NPS, pos software that it is. My i5700's still on 1.5 because the only to update it is to flash it, and i haven't unlocked it yet...
you might aswell root it and flash it to 2.2 but youll never get more than that out of that handset..

Hmm, so their killing overlays like Sense and Touchwiz. I wonder if the likes of HTC and Samsung will play ball?
I'm still waiting for Vodafone to drop Froyo for us SGS owners. >:/
none of the handsets out today can use most of the stuff in 3 either so kinda makes it a pointless update for us all any way.
im not sure why they are using the n 1 as its test hardware either, as it (and all other htc handsets) has the lesser hardware as other phones are going to be held back by software that cant make use of its better specs :| way to go google :thumb:
