Ok this is my first OC result of this single water cooled gtx480 card

Please note for gpu testing i have left ram at stock speed and the i7 920 at default also. Only the card has been oc'ed

A decent oc I am sure you will agree, but NOT the best

Well this is a test oc, more will be done in time!!

Note this was done in my XSPC GTX480 water block

A Single slot design and fantastic to boot.

FIRST STOCK SETTINGS

First oc settings NOTE HIGHEST TEMP on 3d vantage (default performance option) only 43C ON A GTX480!=WOW
http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af284/Christopher_Cressey/firstoc.png

2ND OC attempt now we are getting there!

notice the temp at full load is now only 44c

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af284/Christopher_Cressey/2NDOC-1.png

edit THIRD OC now we start to kick **** and take names, NO more playing about!

max temp 45C

[ LIKE I SAID NO PLAYIN G ABOUT wc gtx480 is starting to strike true

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af284/Christopher_Cressey/3rdoc.png

*********edit***************

now we REALLY start to see a gtx480 done right and with wc can achieve great results

MAX TEMP 48C (if this were on air it would be around 103c now)

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af284/Christopher_Cressey/4thoc.png

I did this using OCZ's 1k watt ZSERIES PSU AND xspc gtx480 block and THREE NOCTUA NF-P12 fans on an XSPC RX360 radiator

I think I'm more impressed at the temps than anything else lol. Nicely done... looking forward to seeing more.

not even going to post my score because thats more than double what i get LOL

i think i might be able to get a few mhz more but thats it... ive heard to reach 900mhz gpu core people are using sub-zero like dice or ln2 to reach that. so If that is true its done well for water

OK UPDATE folks

it goes to show you learn all the time. I can not take credit for this as Andrew Moore tokld me, that ican get alot more out of my card if i edit the afterburner.cfg file to allow for extra voltage then i can break 900mhs easily

CRED due to andrew moore for this one

expect an update later

CHEERS AM your a star!

GTX 480's don't hit 100 deg + in 3D Mark?

What are your temps like in Furmark?

El Wayneo
23-09-10, 17:03
I assume he means 103C on a test bench and oc'ed.

I assume he means 103C on a test bench and oc'ed.

Well:

MAX TEMP 48C (if this were on air it would be around 103c now)

From that I assumed he meant running 3DMark as he said "now".

Looking good mate, once you have reached the max of the 480 reset your overclock and see what it does :D.

on furmark the temp on my gtx 480 rose to 94C (got that aaron?) i tested with furmark on each test.the highest temps matched that of 3dmark!

i am now convinced that i can get 900+ gpu out of this

mac iknow what itdoes it does around 21k at stock

Does anyone know how to unlock the extra voltage on msi afterburner.cfg to get 1.225 volts please?

Lol yer yer :P

Anyroad.. nice OC Chris... Still a wee slower than mine on Air but *cough*.. edit that cfg.. *cough*

Buy an Asus or MSI?? Lol.. sorry :P

Maybe you have to flash the bios to an MSI version to get it?

nah just been informed its a physical capacitor type, im limited at 1.138 voltage

so the last oc is the best oc i can do given the voltage restriction

Wow real nice 3dmark score watercooling seems the way to go if you have a 480 otherwise they melt! :P

just wait till you get a second 480 :D, 45000 points maybe at the same overclocks on both cards i would imagine :p

LOL... 3 at stock get 46k... scaling isnt 100%,.. maybe 60%... those clocks with cpu like that... 38k maybe...

Sick scores man, those temps are a lot more manageable! is that on a single loop for your graphics card?

gilgamesh
07-10-10, 21:00
Yes it is mate

Was using an XSPC RX 360 MM RAD AND THREE nOCTUA nf-p12 FANS!

Mr. Strawberry
08-10-10, 03:19
did you say your CPU was at stock?
it scores more than mine and mine is at 4Ghz :/
though i still get 2000+ more on the overall score

mac124
08-10-10, 07:29
The 53k cpu score is down the the gpu doing the physx, i assume.

Mr. Strawberry
08-10-10, 12:37
my GPUs have phys-x though

gilgamesh
11-10-10, 16:30
yep CPU is at stock!

gaunty
11-10-10, 16:51
But in your sig it says "920 core i7 oced to 4.419 gigs"

Surely stock for that cpu is 2.6 gig ?

tinytomlogan
11-10-10, 16:54
If that cpu score it as stock you have a world record Gilga.

If however it is 4.2-4.4 ghz the score is bang on target. :)

mac124
11-10-10, 18:15
my GPUs have phys-x though

Then you should be getting around 50K+ for the "cpu" in performance mode, i know i do and i have a similar gfx set up to you.

Mr. Strawberry
11-10-10, 18:17
i do with it OC'ed @4ghz
that is what i am trying to say his CPU at stock is scoring the as the same type at 4ghz :S
like TTL said if that is at stock then he has a world record

gilgamesh
15-10-10, 15:37
aheeeeeem

I put my cpu back to stock when doing this test. This was carried out in order to test the speed difference the oc on graphics card. Standard doctrine on testing a new card is to ALTER and oc ONE thing at a time in order to assertain what the difference is. If you oc both the cpu and the gpu at once and run 3d vantage then you cannot attribute the score just down to the oc of the gpu!

Common sense

However indeed that score was with the CPU at stock! and only the GPU was oced!

When I get back home Ill proove it. The cpu was at stock i know this as I NEVER oc the cpu when a new component has been installed. I always give it a few weeks to bed down before returning to oc

gilgamesh
15-10-10, 15:42
But in your sig it says "920 core i7 oced to 4.419 gigs"

Surely stock for that cpu is 2.6 gig ?

PDUB if you WERE paying attention you would realise in the first post i said CPU was set at stock and only the gpu was oced!

Would i BOTHER to alter my sig just to do one test of a oc i have normally on my cpu? Dont be silly

HoWever looking at those cpus's scores, that is really weird as everything in the boardS BIOS was set back to stock and only the GPU was oced via MSI's afterburner!

When I get back home on Monday I will investigate the matter. As that is a funny one!

I will also post a score with the cpu oced and see what difference it does make

gilgamesh
20-10-10, 19:21
ok here is one for the naysers:)

indeed there was some slightly standard intel auto overclocking going on, (the STOCK settings) but not at what you were all thinking.

So to proove a point here goes!

I will update this post when i oc the cpu also

ok 4 point odd gig oc on the cpu also now

yeah gets me too:)

ok ill post a 4 gig cpu oc in a mo and go from there, wont be a mo

thats more like the cpu score i would expect for that system, with an oc ofc, as i was getting 32k+ from a wolfdale@4ghz and a g92 gpu.

looking good that mate :thumb:
