Ok peeps, I got my bike a little while back but finally..... Finally its done ready working and has her first batch of bling!
Started of with a stock Marin Wolf Ridge 6.8
Just had fitted Shimano Saint brakes with 2 piece rotor conversion (these things are aaaaaaaaaaaaamazing)
Took off the tripple rings and fitted a single 40t with a Straightline chainguide (serious sexy time!)
Crank Brothers Joplin seat post (hydrolic 3" adjustable post, up for XC drop it down for play time)
Blackspire thin cage pedals, these have already had the backs of my legs!

pretty impressive! personally I prefer the petrol consuming variety, a little faster lol
:)That looks mighty impressive Tom , just one problem ?
Don't you need hills or mountains for a mountain bike as the last time I visited the IOW there weren't any
Where I live you can't get in or out of the village without a serious 2 mile 1 in 5 climb

Its not the hilliest place in the world but I make do, speed and trees are fun :p
I do like to get away and ride, just doesnt happen very often :(
Takes me back, used to do loads of mountain biking - just wished I could afford a better bike at the time :D
Looks seriously impressive mate :) I particularly like the stick too, was that extra? ;)

The max I have paid for a bike was £350 including some small modifications. I really don't see why a bike has to be so expensive.
Does it make a lot of difference...... apart from looking great?

Yeah it makes a huge amount of difference dude. Depends how you ride tbh, you wouldnt take a london taxi to an F1 race would you.

really nice bike tom I would love that but i would be totally paranoid about it being stolen lol
most i have paid on a bike was GT I drive £900 got belting reviews all over
so i grabbed one they were exclusive to Halfords (I know Eek)
loved the bike but kept getting problems with the breaks tapping on the disks when i turned in either direction, over a month hellfords were trying to sort it out
I ended up getting my money back in the end and buying a cheaper bike

Thats halfords for you fella. GT have actually stopped letting them sell their bikes now I hear (or its coming) because of how useless the guys in the stores are.
Discs can be a pita to centre, really depends what versions you had as they shouldnt have that much room to move unless your wheels were loose (probs spokes)
nice, looks like a single pivot design?
Whats the travel front and back?
weight?
I love my Santa Cruz "the second wife" Heckler. Just shy of £3k spent on it now.
Frame imported from USA and every part hand picked after many hours spent pouring over reviews.
Formula Oro Bianco brakes
Sram x-9 rear der
Shimano XT front der
XT cranks
Hope headset, truvativ XR riser and AM bars
Wipperman connex 910 nickel
Hope pro 2's on Dt Swiss 5.1d's
Conti Vertical Pro's (2.3 grip and comfort but roll and look like a 2.1)
Thomson Seatpost
Pike Coil front forks 140mm
Fox Float RP23 140mm
Yeti grips and X.9 shifters
It goes as fast as a rat up a drainpipe and corners like a toboggan :D

hey some people spend more than £15k on a car! :surprised: (obviously some a LOT more than this!)
Reasonably priced car £6k
High end bike £3k

Its quad link dude, the back wheel moves back before it goes up. Its epic for technical stuff. Its 140 front and rear, absolutely perfect for everything up to DH, thats when it starts to get a bit iffy and Im a heavy rider.
£3k? Yeah not bad money, my DH rig was insured for 5k back in the day, I dont get enough chance to get away and ride now so no point. Maybe next year Ill get something bigger as a second bike.
That is a beast of a bike you got there, congrats.
Just try your best not to scratch her:thumb:
Thats a nice bike :)
Coiler 3k and you dont ride it to work? Am sure it would be very safe in the Aria car park :D

Never seen a rear suspension like that before.
I creamed. It's beautiful. I love it in every single way. You're a lucky man.
I have a Orange 223 and Yeti DJ :D
Spent around 4K on the Orange and around 2K on the Yeti. Both custom builds - I like getting my hands dirty :p
Anyone interested in spec? :)

Joey Propane, I used to work in a bike shop as a bike tech :p

Rachel you need to get your own thread up with plenty of pics and build spec :+1
Thats a nice bike :)

I think i'd realise after 25 minutes of riding I was no longer on the bike :chairfall:
Tom is that a joplin seat post (of drop easily for descent fame?) was looking at a handlebar mounted one but put off by all the extra cabling etc/bar space needed.
How do you rate it?

Front wheel alone is. Seat post is worth over twice that!

Throw in a basket to clip onto the front and I'll buy!
I wish I could afford that much on a bike :(. Used to love riding bikes as a kid but never had one over here.
