View Full Version : ***CLOSED*** Wednesday Afternoon Competition * Winner * dd97 *
Afternoon all,
It has been a day of statistics and logs...
Something that surprised me is the amount of web traffic the office produces.... or lack thereof :)
How much does the Aria office download per day on average?
One of these for the closest entry:

0.7GB i feel that the office should be spending most of their time on the aria pages so no need to download new pages all the time.

I reckon about 2.9GB per day on average.
Very difficult to answer - is this just staff and their usage, or does it include Aria servers such as email and DNS, or does it include www.aria.co.uk even ?!?
Very interested in not just the answer but a bit of an explanation. We do about 10GB per day and only have 10-20 employees in a day. However we do have a terminal server with 20ish simultaneous connections throughout the day, as well as all our staff being dependant on certain web applications (we're a financial services company)
Oh, and that doesn't include our online backups every night - they're ona different internet connection!

They may also spend all day downloading porn instead of working all day as well.

watercooled
22-09-10, 23:16
well it should be 500 posts or what are we all contributing for !!
congrats to the new guy - that's what the comps are for... now all we have to do is convince him to stay ;)

might aswell just start a sticky with new users post here for your free goodies
Wow. I thought my answer was low, but the real answer was even lower!
So you don't have an internal website then? Like many colleges and other businesses do, sometimes referred to as an intranet.

11Mb out goshdarnit! Gratz dd99.
I was looking at the stats today and there are very few people who actually look at the web. There is an Intranet but it is very 'light'. Sales/CS/Accounts/warehouse are all using the ERP system.
I think its mostly the work of the Admincat...

Don't be so bitter. Is your argument against new users or just some weird psychological thing to do with post count? Because in one post you're moaning about new users and in the other, saying that the post count limit should be 500. What if I think only users who registered BEFORE 2010 should be allowed to enter? That rules out all new users don't you think? Oh wait, that's not fair, neither is by post count or by join date.
There's already special deals which are unique to 500 and 1000+ posters, and Aria don't have to provide any of these (including these competitions). You'll notice MOST competitions ARE won by users who have been here a while.
Indeed the comps are there to attract new users and customers. What better way than to award a brand new member with a prize? Fair or not, it's what trading is about.

Agreed!! I agree about the 2010 thing anyway so many people have joined in 2010, and spammed like crazy and now thing they are better than everyone else.
I know i dont post alot but ive been using aria for years and have been on the fourms for years too

...must admit myself I've only just joined the forums after all the publicity it's had recently. I've been using Aria personally for years, and for the last couple of years at work too!
Back on topic - 120MB! Wow, that is astonishing! for a company of this size and number of employees, 120MB per day is very very low in my experience
Well done dd97 :) hope you stick around :D
