Argh! This looks great. Do I sell my GTS and get a GT NOW, or do I just wait for the next gen cards in a couple of months? With the knowledge that my GTS will be worth a lot less than right now?

Get it on the bay, it will fetch reasonable £ as not many people will realise 8800gt is out or how good it is. Purchase 8800GT with change to spend on beer :P

This is THE plan ^

My only issue so far is the memory interface. A far as I know DX10 runs better on a wider interface. So surely a GTS clocked at 600Mhz [like mine] should outperfom a GT. Although I have the 320MB version, so
I have also been thinking about getting one of those Fatal1ty Zalman FC-ZV9 coolers to make 650Mhz stable. That should see the GTS be as good as a GT?
But then the GT overclocks to 700Mhz and would be better again...

Next question, do I sell it [GTS] as overclocked [flashed] and fully tested? I have it 100% stable at 550Mhz, it benches at 650Mhz and I think 600Mhz is also stable although thats not been tested as much.

So should I sell it flashed and pre-overclocked? Or do you get less money that way?

This is a funny idea of you guys intervening! I have resigned myself to buying this card

Yeah its noisier and hotter than a GTS, BUT I'm going to rip the cooler monstrosity off and put on a Zalman FC-ZV9 cooler. Those things are much better.

Roughly £30 for the zalman. Difficult to find it though. Its hard to find good coolers I think.

STOP tempting me to buy more things I cannot afford!

I'm going over here now to bury my head in the sand and pretend this whole 'GT' thing is NOT happening. Watercooling is LIES, don't make me do it

Well that lasted long. I just read this: tomshardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/29/geforce_8800_gt/)

And its another source that confirms the GT smokes anything smaller than a GTX.

Noooo!

I think the hassle of selling this outweights the benefits. I'm going to sit tight, overclock my GTS, and wait for the next generation of graphics cards which is in a couple of months.

Oh and If Aria sells the the GT for anything over £160 it will be overpriced ;)

True, but if we take their prices as a baseline then is it worth spending up to £170(?) on a brand like Asus or EVGA? Thats £40 for a sticker on the card.

From what I can see on the picture there, it looks like Asus have stuck it on a black board. That would look cool.

£167 though, thats more than I was expecting.

They should be £135 according to the INQ. But companies hardly sell for that little or the product isnt as good value to sell..

I also not that the prices of GTS' have not changed. Why would anyone buy a GTS for > £180 when a GT is £165 ?

it won't show the clocks due to the nvidia driver not 100% supporting it yet. My 7950gx2 was the same. It may even score slightly higher when the next driver has "official" support for it!! :)

My 06 comes out at 7400 on my 7950gx2 with a 939 x2 4200 and 2gb ram.

I'm now thinking Slexors posted score 14500 something i think, was helping a lot by the Q6600? so me getting an 8800GT wouldnt be of that much benefit! id probably get another 1000 if that.

Now if I could achieve 14500 with my system the credit card would be out right now!!

My 7950GX2 (facotry speeds all round) gets around 7K in 2006 - the 8800GT would be really tempting if I didn't own two Xbox360s...

If you look at tystar's score, its quite close to my overclocked GTS (9408 and 9821). Its a shame he doesnt have an E6750 for comparison. Although an E4400 at 2.5Ghz is close to mine at 2.66, which is what I ran the tests at!

Thing is thats comparing an overclocked GTS to a factory GT. So an overclocked GT would get more than a GTS.

The Q6600 will skew the test upwardss massively because of the CPU tests that 3dMark does. Shame those tests don't show a GTS, we could compare and make a decision about upgrading.

Now running CPU Stable @ 3.00ghz and get 3d mark of 10771 - still running Card at stock.
Will try and get the card stable at a resonable speed over the weekend and will repost results on monday.
