Hi all, i'm new to the forums found this site a while back but have decided to finally treat myself to a new pc. Anyway here's the spec i've been looking at

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (AM2) (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/AMD/Athlon+64+X2+Socket+AM2/AMD+Athlon+64+X2+Dual+Core+6000%2B+3.00GHz+%28AM2% 29+?productId=28915)

Corsair 2GB PC2-5300 C4 XMS2 (2x1GB) (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR2/DDR2+667+%28PC5300%2F5400%29/Corsair+2GB+PC2-5300+C4+XMS2+%282x1GB%29+?productId=28331)
250Gb Western Digital Caviar SE SATA 8MB (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Hard+Drives/Serial+ATA/250Gb+Western+Digital+Caviar+SE+SATA+8MB+?productI d=28742)
XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/nVIDIA+GeForce+8+Series/XFX+GeForce+8800+GTX+768MB+DDR3+PCI-E+Dual+DVI+?productId=28340)
Samsung 18x DVDRW LightScribe Black (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CD%2FDVD+Drives/DVD-R%2FRW+Writer/Samsung+18x+DVDRW+LightScribe+Black+?productId=245 51)
Arianet Impact MIDI case (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Cases/MIDI+Tower/Arianet+Impact+MIDI+case+?productId=27729)
Xilence 700w Gaming Edition PSU (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/500w+%2B/+Xilence+700w+Gaming+Edition+PSU?productId=26715)

comes to £660. My budgets about £700. Is this all ok or are there any bits I should look at changing.

Do Aria still offer the sytem build service or not? If so do you know how much i'm looking at?

I've changed bits and pieces in my current system but would prefer it to be set up ready if it was possible, never built a pc from scratch.

Many Thanks
H

Go for Core2Duo over amd, thats where the performance is for less money, change that and the mobo and you have a lovely system, except the ram, nothing less than pc6400, ocz platinum will wipe the floor with it.

Thanks for the reply

What mobo and cpu would you suggest? Every benchmark i've looked at so far, the 6000+ walks all over similar priced Duos.

Also is the 8800GTX really worth the extra £100 over the 8800GTS, i'm beginning to think I should perhaps go for 1 of these instead and maybe grab a new monitor aswell.

People struggle to run crysis on very high on a GTX, a GTS would be worse, tbh with the 8800 GT being released, offering more performance for less money, the waiting game should be played, and the 6000+ walks over similarly priced non oc cpus, get a E6600 and oc over 3ghz and it will utterly smoke the AMD, and for the mobo, a XFX 650i would more than do the job, or the 680i if you have plenty of money.

I've never oc'd before is it hard to do? Would i need additional cooling?

Thanks for the info about 8800gt just had a look around and it looks like it will be an awesome card and the framerates on the games i saw it was tested on, most of them it was <10 fps off of the gtx and better than the radeon hd 2900xt 1GB, and if the price on amazon is anything to go by then it will be a real bargain at £163.

Amazon says its out tomorrow but i can't see that. Any ideas when it could be?

Cheers

Should be soon i read the general news sites, and some places have it already. I would say that with stock you can oc, and it is very easy, there are so many guides that show how to do it easily.
