View Full Version : Best Android phone?
OK i have the SE X10i and i HATE itt soo much.
Main reason for my hate is im a texter and it just dosnt type properly
click a button it makes the noise and vibrates but nothing so click it a few times and it finally goes.
ive tryed loads of things to try and sort it out but nothign seems to have worked so I want another phone but goood
also has to be android.
whats the best out atm? or are there any new phones due out that will be better/ expected to be good that may be worth waiting for?
thanks :)

hang onto it until the end of the month, Sony are releasing a bunch of updates (Android 2.1, and then more for the X10)
i have a SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro, which I like, but yeah, it does lag behind quite a bit. i'm guessing Android 2.1 will be much faster than 1.6. :D
yea ive been waiting for the update for sooo long its silly. shall see how it goes tho ive only got a month 1/2 left on my work contract so may upgrade that to something awesome :)
sony have been saying 2.1 is coming for that long the rest of us (well those with good phones :p) are now on 2.2.
i went with the htc desire as it felt the best to use and hold, some like the plastic, toy like feel, of the sammy s :D
ah, well i only just started my contract haha :)
In the meantime, try "Swiftkey Beta" - it replaces the normal keyboard and predicts words based on past usage patterns. Very impressive :)

guna give that a shot later :)
change the keyboard to swype beta or "better keyboard" but i wouldnt hold your breath for any speed improvements 2.1 isnt faster than 1.6 its slower its only 2.2 that is faster by 300% and it will be a year before SE release that if they ever do for your phone..
if you want a new handset id get either the galaxy s the nexus one or if you could buy a motorola on ebay from america a droid incredible or EVO

Why you :mad::mad::mad:
I think it's down to personal preference as I dont think it feels plastic'y feel at all.
personally I'd try them all instore and go from there.
check the quadrant scores to see what is the most powerful too ;)

thats the best thing to do imo too :thumb:
if you want to do some googling search for after sales care and see which phone gets the best support once they have your money.
the sammy s is the more powerful, its dedicated gpu puts it in its own class but idk how much real world use that gets unless you use your phone to play games alot.
only the nexus one is free from bloatware
only the nexus one is free from bloatware
that depends on the network or if you buy the phone unbranded.
rooting also removes any "bloatware" you dont want as you can add/remove apps to/from the rom you flash too :thumb:
You can only get it on vodafone in the UK and its totally stock android straight from google in a google box and bag
rooting also screws your warranty on your £500 phone.. not a good idea really
so does ocerclocking cpu bits, or lapping or almost anything as they can always use the good ole "user misuse" excuse to get out of the warrenty.
tbh if i need to i will just smash my £500 phone with a hammer and get a free one from my insurance :thumb:
as for voda, guess you didnt read about the whole voda 360 thing and how it was rolled out on the desire first but we all kicked up a massive fuss so now everybody gets the option not to install it, nexus 1 included :thumb:
nope that was the desire only
yea, as the desire is the more popular phone they ran it on that first and then they was going to do the same on all other droid handsets, nexus 1 included.
they never have and never will sell a nexus one with any custom software on it. Thats the rules they sell it from google. They dont even have the handsets when you order them google instructs HTC to send you one, you get an email and you track your phone from taiwan to your house. its never been anywhere near vodafone. all the packaging is google and all the warranties are from HTC.
all the other handsets are different and that was my point in this thread, there are many advantages to having a N1 you get upodates first, no bloatware and every app will run sweet as they are all tested and built on the N1. OH and its not plastic
I heard that google is going to stamp out bloatware from 3.0 gingerbread by restricting access to the market for non standard phones! im not sure thats a winning idea as there are already 2 non authorised app stores for the dodgy tablets you get on ebay..
mine was the same in a htc box with no vodaphone branding. 360 wasnt on the handsets, it was an update via the network when you pluged your sim card in, it just popped up saying your phone is out of date and a newwer os version is out. they can push what ever software they want on you via this means, but lucky for you they aint now :thumb:
if google remove the abilty for networks/makers to alter the os as they see fit they will
stop using it and go with the new symbian os, as that is also a propper open os.

I dont think they will without google android is pretty pants.. no GPS no market place no sync. you should play with a non google android tablet and its surprising the difference google makes. I dont think it will come down to google threatening they will just discourage them.. I know that gingerbread has a very cool UI like HTC sense and that the UI can be changed with apps. So you can still have a customised experience but it will be a samsung app or a HTC app not a custom build of android to achieve that so updates will get to the devices much sooner. well once a year actually as from 3.0 onwards android updates are annual!
