View Full Version : My finished build!
Whoop, installed the i7 950, OCZ Triple channel 3x2gb ram, new mobo (clicky (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/Intel+Socket+1366/Asus+P6X58D-E+Intel+X58+(Socket+1366)+DDR3+PCI-Express+Motherboard+?productId=40209)) and the Corsair 1KW PSU which I ordered on Monday.
Also finally installed my h50 which I got back in May :D.
Piccies to come as I've also actually tried to do some cable tidying!
Nice work, can't wait to see it!!
Piccies! Think the cable management is pretty darn good for my first try :). Had to heave the back cover shut though lol.

Cracking rig.
Why thank you :).
Seeing as I've never installed a cpu or heatsink/cooler for it, the temps were v.high when i first booted it up lol, so I re-seated it in and screwed it in really tight (i didnt before, what a fool) and now on prime it's 55 degrees max on the hottest core :D. Time to learn to OC!

Second 480 to come end of this month/early next month :D. Twas the whole reason for this upgrade, needed a new mobo for SLI and this cpu/ram/mobo was on a deal so I thought why not :P.

Shall doodly diddly do!
Although one issue I'm worried with is if I put another 480 underneath it, the top one like wont be able to suck any air in? lol.
yeah top one will get hotter cause heat raises too ;)

couldn't you just put the 2nd 480 in the third pcie slot instead of the second. this would leave a nice bit of breathing space between them.:)

Not optimal for performance unfortunately, the white pci-e lane has reduced bandwidth compared to the 2nd blue pci-e lane.
£10 says the white slot's 4x or something retarded like that.
^^ beaten :P

well apparently if you have 3 cards in this setup it runs at 16x8x8 so what would this make the last one. unless the third one only changes to x8 if you have a card in the second pcie slot.
White slot can be *8 or *1 depending on what the others are.

Hmmm well I don't have a bridge long enough for it, unless the 3-way one works?
Very nice Pullen, hope you're pleased with it!! XD

Nice setup mate :thumb:
Chrisssss! :D.
Cheers. :).
Think the H50 fan is making the comp louder then it was hmmm any fans that will be quieter yet be the same/better then this one?
My h50 fan is pretty noisey mate. The pump as well.

Lol the first time when I booted it up with the H50 i heard liquid trickling and was like :censored: it's leaking!! ARGHH!
But then I looked through the window and thought it's all good :thumb:. lol.
They're hit or miss tbh, some are whisper quiet, and some sound like a tramp peeing on your cpu.

Lmao, mine does :D

Hahahaha :). It only trickles for about a min and then all is good, otherwise I would constantly need to go to the toilet :P.

It was resized! You should of seen it before it was!
Hmm, 6GB is not enough to run it without a page file annoyingly. Keep getting out of memory errors.

dont disable it sometimes it will still be used/needed regardless of how much ram just set it really low 256mb or 512mb see how it goes

No thank you lol.
Nice build mate, can't you feed the top 4 pin connector out the back and back in over the top.
Mr. Strawberry
11-09-10, 15:26
needs to get the 8pin connector behind the motherboard tray
and atleast buy them sleeved extensions so it looks nice
and use the hot swap bays :P
Lol is it 8 pin, I really need to go to specsavers.:(
Your one of few pullen I have seen that has the radiator that way round like me. Most people flip it upside down so the pipes are at the top.

will be interesting to see how using 120mm fan at the back instead of a 140mm fan effects temps
shouldnt effect it that much but still interesting to see
do not forget the 7.4 volts for overclocking pullen.
btw please change the fans asap corsair fans are truly awful.
