View Full Version : OCZ Gold problem
I posted this over at the OCZ help forums but i've not had a reply yet so im hoping someone of you may be able to shed some light on this predicament.
I could use some help setting up my new OCZ Gold 1600Mhz DDR3 and ive been advised this is the best place to ask.
I've tried multiple settings, voltages, latencies and i cant seem to get the system stable - some settings load up windows and freeze after a few mins, whilst others give me the BSOD on windows boot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ive tried, lowering the frequency to 1333Mhz, changing the latencies, increasing and decreasing voltages and i cant seem to get it stable.
Aparently the issue isnt with the memory its just with the settings, but memory isnt my area of expertise so im looking for advise :)
I take it doesn't work well when its all at auto?

Have you tried to update your bios?
Maybe the ram is faulty? Have you tried each stick in different slots on its own to see if it works?
it doesnt boot for longer than 2 mins when set at auto, and im using the black slots rather than the brown slots as advised on the OCZ site
Bios has been updated to recent version also (2204 if i remember correctly?)
what does memtest86+ reveal
set the command rate to 2t the trc to 45 and the trfc to 90 with the voltage manually set to 1.65v - give this a try
i`ll let you know later mate, im in work till 8pm
might just have dodgy stick, try them out one by one :thumb:

with the rest at auto?

you mean with the other settings set at auto?
yes but this is a fix from another forum that worked
sounds a bit odd but i`ll give it a go :)
imc make setting ram a little more complicated, tbh ocz forums are good if a little slow, but most of the guys in the know over there are in the states. what they will do if it comes to it is get the same setup as your running and work with you from that. then if the worst comes they will sort an rma, bit of a pain if they are still in holland but better than nothing ;)

i wonder if i fry mine i would get some that will clock higher xD
my thread on there has been pasturing for over 24 hours now.. :(

How'd you sort it though ? ;)

id have more respect for them telling me that than ignoring my plea :|
i did a variated version of this (as my bios didnt have the exact same settings
set the command rate to 2t the trc to 45 and the trfc to 90 with the voltage manually set to 1.65v - give this a try
Set the comman to 2T, TRC to 40, TRFC 90ns, Voltage 1.65v - survived 10 mins on prime95, about an hour or so playing JC2 and being left on overnight :)
Glad ya fixed it, did you post the fix in your thread over at ocz :thumb: show them your superior ;)
wouldnt waste my time mate,
they didnt make the effort for me so i have no incentive to make an effort for them
Hi
i had a similar problem which went on to be the actual motherboard itself! The 1st ram slot was faulty no matter which ram stick i would stick in it lead to a blue screen with number of error codes and stuff..

if you are using amd then you may have some problem, as the ocz gold are specially optimized for intel, from what i've heard.
I had a few random issues with crashing/hanging a few days ago even though i resolved the main problem - so i backed off the overclock a bit and changed the timings back to 8-8-8-20. After 30 mins on prime and it was still stable so i`ll settle for this :)
Hopefully i don't have any problems with my ocz gold tomorrow.
if u do, theres advice on here :)

ocz gold isnt really enthusiast ram its more budjet/mid range ram for intel so you wont get like 7-7-7-20 at 1.65v 1800mhz or anything like that lol.
im gonna get the G.Skill flare soon... it looks like really nice ram and can do 7-8-7-24 or something at 1800mhz 1.65v :D and can clock up over 2000mhz though my cpu is a c2 stepping so it would probably limit it to about 1800-1900mhz anyway.

Used AMD all my life & i've had my OCZ Golds for a while, no bother at all apart from a faulty stick which recently I RMA'd
Im having really random issues recently which i think may be down to the memory, every so oftenmy system will freeze so i have to restart and sometimes it locks up when booting windows.
I've reduced the timings back down to slower than stock (9-9-9-24) and left the voltage at 1.65 and it seems to be ok for now but id like to at least use them at stock settings if anyone could advise what could be wrong?

Is your cpu fully stable? might need run 12hrs or so run with memtest86 to see if it's memory.
