With the latest intel price cuts i have finally plucked up the courage to build a new system to upgrade from my current core 2 quad Q8200.
I wanted to get a system that will be future proof for a long time as well as on that looks nice, whilst running as silently as possiable. Below is the list of components that will make up this build.
(Items in red are awaiting delivery).
New System Parts:
1) Intel i7 950
2) Asus Rampage III Extreme Motherboard
3) Corsair 6Gb 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit
4) Coolit Eco 240mm A.L.C Water Cooling CPU Cooler
5) Coolermaster HAF-X Case
6) Corsair AX 850W Power Supply
7) Samsung SH-B083L Blu Ray Player
8) 2x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM Fans
9) Acer H243H 24" 1920x1080 Moniter
Old System Parts
1) ATI Radeon 5770
2) Western Digital 500GB
For people that are planning to get a HAF-X and a Coolit Eco 240mm with a push/pull setup i have to warn you that you cannot use the screws that come with the Coolit to attach the fans to the radiator if you are putting the Eco on top of the metal bars that go across the width of the case. this extra bit of metal just stops the screw from reaching the radiator screw holes so some slightly longer screws are required.
Due to the shape of the screw hole area of the Typhoon fans (enclosed which prevents you threading screws from the inside of the fan to the outside) the only way that i have been able to attach the fans to the radiator is by the use of cable ties which luckly come with the HAF-X.
Using the cable ties is not too easy as you have to thread them through a screw hole on the radiator with a 1mm gap between the screw hole and the fins of the radiator whilst turning the cable tie 90 degrees so that it does'nt go into the fins which would prevent you from compleating the loop.
Will upload the first set of pictures tomorrow morning so that i can have some decent lighting.
