whats ati's equivalent to this ?
whats ati's equivalent to this ?
It's suppose to beat the 5830 (which it does) and performs close/better than a 5850
They don't have one.
Although one could argue the 5850.

does ati have anything coming out around the 460 ?

ATI's 5850 beats the GTX460, except for tesselation.
This looks good, tempted to sell my 5850 for one of these. Been waiting for an excuse to get one.

overall the 460 and 5850 are quite even as its more ati games vs nv games where each wins. tesselation being a feature that favors nv hardware.
At stock clocks I'd have thought the 5850 would win every time?!
stock clocks on the hawk are 780/3600 oc'd to 950/4400 and its up near a stock 480/5870 :thumb:
So is this much better than an overclocked basic msi 1gb gtx 460?
its got a £30 heatsink on it vs the stock cooler on most, wether it has more oc potential via any msi binning process idk and im not sure they will tell. mine is a msi oc card and it ocs higher than most others of its class so you tell me :D
I believe arctic cooling will be bring 460 compatibility to the accelero xtreme plus.

Trouble is it is probably too big for my case anyway and would invalidate any warranty.
Anyone know if these cards are fundamentally different from other 1gb 460's or if it is just a better cooler / already overclocked?
Latest version of MSI AB allow you overclock memory voltages too with hawk :thumb:
they have better caps, regs and other things on the board vs the stock versions, but ultimately the gpu is just the same.
Thanks, clears it up a bit.
One thing I did notice is on page 3 of the review they say it is a 768mb model and at all other points call it a 1gb. :|

i think that might be a typo tbh but pm msiguru on here, im sure he can clear up if they do a 768mb and 1gb versions.

so they say, im not sure what that entails tbh but it does sound better than cheap thai componants i guess :D
they have added extra power regs too im sure i read somewhere to aid in over volting, not sure if its for the ram or gpu but more is always better :thumb:

Yeah i heard its made form Kevlar and phosphorus.
MSI is my favourite subvendor for graphics cards. They seem to make really high quality cards.
