Which 460?

Hi everyone, I have been looking at the possibility of getting myself a 1gb gtx 460 at some point soonish.

Do you think I would be better with a good stock cooler like the msi cyclone or a cheaper one like the palit card and buying an aftermarket cooler (arctic cooling will be doing an "accelero xtreme plus" with 460 compatibility soon I believe).

The MSI cyclone cooler is amazing. It works better than a lot of after-market coolers and you don't have to void your warranty to keep it cool.

if your running at resolutions of 1920x1080 or higher get the 1gb version. as far as coolers go i have 2 msi cyclone 1gb 460's running in sli at 800/1600/4000 and the temps are: card 1 = 56c and card 2 = 58c. the voltages are left at stock. with the msi version you can tweak the voltage so you can get bigger overclocks. i think these cards can hit 900mhz+ on the core.
don't know about the other cards but someone will probably let you know soon.:)

Yeah the msi ones do look good.

On closer inspection the arctic cooling one is 290mm so I'm not even sure it would actually even fit in my case...

Been mentioned already colors GTX460 900 on the core.

Or Point of View TGT 855 on the core takes out a GTX470.

If they can only provide a screenshot of one hitting 1Ghz i'll keep my Inno3d.

I had a 460 years ago. Awesome machine but very noisy. Can't use it anymore though because the paralel port is now taken by a C62.

asus and msi have the volt changing ability.

msi and asus have nice uprated cooling (hawk being the best imo).

all 460s have the g104 core which overclocks like a beast, add those together and see what you get :D

Looks like if I do get a gtx 460 it will be msi, I will see what prices they are asking for the hawk ones but will probably get the cyclone one unless it is a good price.

Either that or I will just wait and see what the southern islands cards bring...
