What new HDD?

Im looking at getting vista but need a new drive to put it on.

What drive do you advise? Needs to be sata 2, quite big and as fast as possible.

Ive always looked at seagate but i cant see any 10,000rpm drives :shock:

Just get a nice 500gb one with 16mb cache, vista notices the performance boost.

Well reading on the net it seems you wont notice much difference. Max 150gb too :(

Ignore the 10,000 RPM drives, they are loud enough to wake the dead, and they are slower than modern 7,200 RPM drives when it comes to throughput (what actually matters).

Don't waste your money. I wish I hadn't.

Yeah noise is a real bug for me. I like to keep it on over night downloading but its too loud so i have to use my slow *** laptop. :cry:

Heh, in that case don't even think about them. I'm the same - I download mostly at night and need a quiet system, so my WD Raptor has to go, really.

Ive got papst fans in mine and they are meant to be quiet...But no. Still pretty loud with the other HDD's turned off.

Even my laptops single fan is loud. And thats only on for about 20 secs at a time :roll:
