Can the WiFi card be removed if you don't use WiFi ?

Why would you want to remove it??? You could just disable it if you're worried about security...

If you disable something via windows then it's not off it just stops windows from communicating with it and the hardware item like a WiFi card goes into a low power state and it still keeps the slot address.

What about disabling it in the BIOS?

Depends on the laptop and it's bios as some completly remove the wifi chip from being detected by windows or ubuntu yet others still get detected but windows marks it as disabled yet the wifi slot address is still occupied so it's no different than doing it via windows.

Hmmm - I see

There is a universal tool for disabling them - lemme see if I can find you a link.

I've had a look and the Wi-Fi card IS removeable...

There's a plastic panel on the back which is held in with four screws - once you take that off you should see the WLAN card in one corner - it's held in with two more screws - once they're taken out it's really easy to take the card out.

Actually ive been told that the removal of a wifi card is a little more difficult than the removal of memory and required a different calibre of toolage.

I find that this tends to remove wifi cards ;)
