View Full Version : Thoughts on these monitors...
Ok, so without giving my requirements, what are your opinions on these two screens for use as computer monitors (I do know one of them as a TV tuner...). I'm lookiung for good image quality and value for money. I would definitely use the TV tuner if it was there, but its not essential.

YEah i'm looking at getting one of the LG LED monitors, the 23" with HDMI can be had for around £150, but the 22" is a bargain for £116.
The one on the first looks much nicer, i know i couldent ever buy the 2nd one.
Thats my £0.02
the 22" is a bargain for £116.
Especially as I still have the £50 I won just before I went away...
There you go, if you get it can you let me know what its like please, am still undecided.
Yeah, no probs... Although, I think I might look at the 22/23" one with the HDMI port too..

I have two M227WDPs
Great monitors and a great TV too.
But the HDMI of monitor use is a bit iffy, but LG say it's not for PC use.
How are they through VGA/DVI for PC use?
i bought the top one a few days ago- the picture quality is just stunning, takes a while to adjust to the brightness and vividness of the colours but its just amazing

Never used either via VGA but DVI is top notch.

2nd one is only 1680 x 1050.
I'm indecisive between the 23" LED LG and the 22" Iyama.
But 2nd one is also 5ms refresh compared to 2ms for the 1st...
Decisions decisions....
Get the Iyama, HDMI isn't everything, plus it has better brightness and 2ms response.
I've decide the 23" LG isn't worth the £35 more than the 22", where as the Iyama is.
HDMI would be VERY useful to me though... Its not a dealbreaker, but its definitely something on my list for ideal monitors..

Adapter? :P.
Iiyama E2271HDS
If you google exactly that and go to the 6th link down its the actual PDF from Iiyama and it says HDMI.
Says 250cd/m as well though.
Well, yeah that is the other option.. And I'd also need to get one to allow me to convert Component into VGA/DVI as well..
So the 22" LG LED with HDMI is £150
The Iiyama 22" LED with HDMI is £164
The only other difference worth considering is that the LG is 5ms and the Iiyama 2ms.

It does look like quite a nice monitor...
EDIT: No mention of HDCP tho....
ITs a shame HDMI has such a premium.

That is of course assuming the difference in the numbers is actual panel performance rather than one manufacturer altering the numbers slightly! :thumb:
