perhaps i should point out that there is no vga support on the motherboard so i am relying on the pci-e card but am unable to install any drivers as i cant see no screen

Are we talking no picture whatsoever? Not even BIOS boot screen?

 Is there anything else [other pc] you can plug the monitor into to test it works?
Or try a different monitor.

monitor works fine.

Things I would check:

 If you do get BIOS on your screen then try going into safemode and install drivers through there. Or go into BIOS and check everything is set up properly for your components.

 If nothing whatsoever, then I am surprised you get no beeps. But try a different card.
If possible use the AVI or DVI outputs from your card, see if either works.

If none of that works then the mobo might be broked :( :?:

Does that board support your memory? =/

It is a budget one after all, it might only support DDR2 533.

yes mem is supported

Okay cool. Do you have any other graphics card you could test with the board? Because it occurs to me that either the graphcis or the board are at fault.

Is the cases speaker connected to the motherboard?

Sorry if this is patronising!

Tried clearing the BIOS with the CMOS Ram clear jumper on your mobo?

lamarti
19-09-07, 21:53
yes speaker connected
yes cleared bios

Tried taking out the graphics card and booting it? Does it beep at you? Should be a long beep then three shorts.

If no beeping then your motherboard is doing something wrong.

Is the PSU's voltage set to 220v~240v and not 110v~120v ? All the power LED's come on?

I think the mobo is not right somehow.

lamarti
19-09-07, 22:10
yes power supply set correctly and all lights come on

That's so strange.

Last thing I can think of is that your reset button is constantly resetting it, loose connection maybe?
I don't think your motherboard has an intrusion detection switch header, but if it does then disconnect it. I've seen them cause this behaviour.

At this point I run out of ideas for now, sorry :(

All the power connections connected to the motherboard? 24way (or 20) 4way (or 8) plus any others the mobo manufacturer deems necessary?

Does the

1. PSU fan
2. GFX card fan
3. CPU fan

...power up?

Does the Hard disk whir into action and make noise?

lamarti
20-09-07, 10:08
yes it all powers up and all fans work but no beeping and no monitor

take the CPU and heatsink off and check the CPU pins are any bent?

RAM modules installed in slot 1+2, not 1+3 or 2+4?

If the cpu turns out not to be damaged, then I would point the finger at the mobo and return it for a new one.
