Nowadays about 500MB a day if I'm lucky. Pretty soon that'll escalate to my old 10-20GB/day again probably :p

Probably about 100GB a month. Unlimited connection though. 70% of it is just browsing though...

Finners
29-08-10, 02:09
not including browsing and online gaming because honestly i dont monitor it. So have no idea how much bandwidth it uses

i would say about 20-30gb

Can anyone tell me what sort of thing are people downloading to hit 5-10gb a night! or 3TB a month!

Alexceptional

I'm pretty sure when I was in Edinburgh at uni last term we were downloading an insane amount. I think one night we downloaded 12GB or so.

Most of our download is streamed TV, movies from Zune and similar, mega use of Spotify, games from Steam etc. etc.

We're getting 50MB cable this next term so I'm sure it will get worse.

We can all thanks students and there greedy, resource-hogging natures for making the rest of us look positively frugal with bandwidth.

I probably average half a gig a day over a month id guess, not a lot really.

Not much anymore really, unless there's something on iPlayer I want to download or a tutorial on Youtube I need to see.

My computer has been on since about 10am today and right now the Local Area Connection Properties window shows that I have received just under 250,000,000 bytes.

I get the feeling there will be a lot more network traffic in my house now. My technologically incompetent brother has just bought a PS3, so I took the 360. So now we have two internet-enabled consoles, both of which are likely to be used. Well, possibly not. The 360 was not used all the time my bro had it.

But on a semi-related note, my other brother who has moved out, bought some homeplugs several months ago, possibly a year or two ago now. They stopped working, so he gave them to me to fix. I couldn't do it. So he went back to wireless and said I could keep the dud plugs.

Several months down the line, the plugs have been sitting on my bedside table gathering dust. In fact, they're very dusty. I suddenyl had a thought that it'd be nice to be able to use the 360 as a media extender for my PC. Also it'd be nice to be able to connect it to the internet for online games and stuff.

So I went back to the plugs, dusted them off, and ... they work! Qu'est-ce que hell?!

I was a bit less experienced with PC's at the time so I didn't really know about download managers and the like. Oh how it would have made things easier.

I would be happy with 10mbps if I could get it. Broadband in this country sucks so bad.

Ice Tea
03-09-10, 12:13
You need to move closer to the exchange. :)

sb89
03-09-10, 12:31
I know it has to do with distance to the exchange but our country has fallen way behind compared with other countries. Our average download speed is about 7.5Mbps while countries such as Moldova and Latvia average 21Mbps and 23Mbps. I think that's quite pathetic tbh.

who is your ISP?

Snakedoc
29-10-10, 19:08
It all rather depends if any new games have been released on Steam, or reduced in price.

As 1TB HDD's are so cheap I now have the iso's for all the linux distros I want to try out.

Lmao, I got Talk Talk too the reason they don't do anything when you go over the limit is because they never give you any software to measure your bandwidth. Anyway most "Unlimited" broadband packages have a cap of around 100GB.

Virgin don't :D though if your not on top package you get speed reductions, still better than limits
