Mr Banana

Ordered an item from amazon and citylink said it will be delivered up until 5:30 today, its still currently being "dispatched" from milton keynes, im so annoyed since im in plymouth not even far and its not even at the plymouth depot yet.

City Link do indeed suck.

DPD are a relatively new one for us... but they e-mail on the morning of the delivery to give you a 1 hour window for delivery - several times they've been bang on in that hour! :thumb:

i would have to say ukmail are the best for me and are very polite aswell unlike city link

Pepp77
26-08-10, 22:13
DPD are Parceline - they changed ownership about 8 years ago and names about 2 years ago.

We use the swap-it service for handset replacements - its a very good service, collect from you day one, deliver to customer day 2, deliver back to you day 3, they even supply pink plastic boxes to put the product in for the delivery.

Ive never had any problems with Citylink, DPD, Transworld, HDNL (I know others have but I havent), UPS or DHL - Thankfully.

The only company I cannot stand are Parcel Farce.

DPD are rubbish, didnt even give me chance to get to the front door and then I had to drive across to the other side of manchester, near enough warrington to collect my parcel..

Citylink where ok when aria sent the picture frame I won, even thought I said I would collect it :D

lol seriously i've never received anything bad or late from them

however city link well there just plain bad i ordered a dvd drive and a gpu and the guy delivering it had the 2 packages in one hand and was smoking in the other and on top of that it was raining

Mr Banana
26-08-10, 23:01
Well i shall be phoning them tomorrow to see where it is, not happy they havent even updated the status on my package.

26-08-10, 23:08
Parcel Farce had lost, miss-delivered or left on my doorstep a number of "Special Delivery Signature required" parcels.#One took a month to reappear despite NO attempt to delivery it.

I know no attempt was made, because if they try and fail they have to attach one of the bar code strips to the failed delivery note, and they are all still on the package; now, instead of sending it to London, I have to repackage it and get a customs form to send it to VLADIVOSTOK!!

sunjoo

Again, I have never had any problems with CityLink at all. Deliveries from them usually arrive at about 8:30am on the day of delivery, which is nice if I have plans for the rest of the day.

sunjoo
26-08-10, 23:51
i think the city link driver that delivers to my area hates me because of the amount of stuff i order and i always get it delivered on tuesdays for some reason

Sniperdude
27-08-10, 00:34
I think it depends on the area

never had a problem with city link myself.

DPD are super fail
every time they arrive here the guy knocks at the door I answer then he goes off
to look for my package and leaves me waiting while he checks every package in the van (always the same guy)

royal mail failforce are ok unless a single drop of snow or anything from the sky lands
as they down tools and take a week off saying its to dangerous

dpd never deliver until its 5pm so they are definitely an epic fail

I've heard alot of horror storys about myhermes.co.uk Couriers.

But being the cheapest in the UK i suppose you get what you pay for.

sunjoo
27-08-10, 08:57
never used myhermes before but they seem pretty cheap

Ice Tea
27-08-10, 09:04
Most of the complaints for myhermes is parcels going missing and they give really low compensation for loss and damage claims and alot of there small print says they don't give compensation to alot of items such as electrical equipment.

parcel2go and parcelmonkey seem to get about the best reviews for low prices and good service.

sunjoo
27-08-10, 09:09
ohh i see well good thing i always use p2g when i send large parcels

Ice Tea
27-08-10, 09:12
The price that Royalmail charges for large items is always twice that of DHL so how they stay in business amazes me.

You do realise Parcel2go and Parcelmonkey are not courier companies themselves they just act as an intermediate to the other couriers we have mentioned and you choose which of them parcel2go/monkey places your order with.

sunjoo
27-08-10, 09:19
yes i know i use p2g because its quicker and cheaper then directly buying from the couriers

Ice Tea
27-08-10, 09:21
I did but i thought that parcel brokers such as Parcel2go and Parcelmonkey tend to use well known couriers and was given the impression that myhermes as a parcel broker tended to use small localized couriers such as self employed van drivers.

But i'm only going by what i've read from places such as moneysavingexpert.com for the best price to service and compensation.

Pepp77
27-08-10, 09:30
myHermes are an actual courier company themselves - they actually deliver parcels using their own vans/drivers.

Ice Tea

Wonder why they get slated so much then as you could understand it if they was a Parcel Broker and paperwork on orderes going missing but as a actual courier company they should have an adavantage even over Parcelforce at their prices. ?

Maybe i'll try them sometime for posting something cheap under £20 but the low compensation is still abit of a concern.

could be wrong but i think QVC have sent packets via myhermes to my GF
they arrived via car lol with a smoker driving and the packets smell of smoke
they have also not bothered even knocking in the past

and just give the packet to the first person with an open door then carded me saying were the packet was LOL funny that i answered the door before they made there get away and made them go and get the packet and deliver it to the correct address

Never had a problem with city-link. I also use them to dispatch stuff and it always get delivered to my customers easy.

UPS are good, But very expensive.
Its a fact that they make a loss in the UK every year, But they just need the corporate image for the American market.

I also use UK mail/business post who are very good.

Fastway went bust last week:lol:

02-09-10, 06:36
My worst: DPD, Citylink.
My best: Parcel Force, UPS and DHL.

The rest are pretty average, but those 3 are always quick and have never been damaged.

I'm sure it's a coincidence but every time i've had a delivery of a Bulk Pack of DVD disks and they have been sent via City-Link the tub is always cracked.

I've had that many times! , when i ordered a case of 120 DVDs from the Red & White place, they came in an extremely large box but the case which the dvds were contained in was damaged to hell & the DVDs were scattered around in this box with no bubble wrap whatsoever.

Well I somehow missed the delivery on Friday even though I was near the door waiting. Re-delivered for Today, kept checking the window and near by but missed the delivery again. I'm really not sure how... Found the card just 15 mins after the time printed on the card.

Phoned city link, was stuck in a queue for a gd 30 mins or so even though i was fourth in line. The lady asked me to hold whilst she tried to get a hold of Gatwick who in turn would get a hold of the driver to see if he could come back for me. She couldn't get through, she tried again after apologising and still couldn't get through.

The depot the package will be at is a good 45-50 mins away. I could of sworn there used to be a depot in lancing, not 10 mins away from me.

I must have some really bad luck or the driver knocks ever so gently.

Marv
02-09-10, 15:16
Well I got the card through the door so I'm going with the knocks ever so gently.

If Aria doesn't authorise the third delivery which I would totally understand they can have it back and I'll just take the refund. I don't think I'll be driving 45-50mins to Crawley to get a small item, it's just not worth it.

Just a string of bad luck lately.

Do you not have a doorbell?

Half of the damage is wrong packaging btw.
Ive just loaded a van up and i saw a bike wrapped in brown paper...Well what was left of it!

I bet there is a "cash for claims" fraud going on every day with them.

I work in packaging (Not fudge) and everything goes and and gets delivered in A1 condition!

Last time that happened to me I bypassed CityLink and went to Aria. I had three phone calls within minutes asking for directions to the office where I was. Fifteen minutes later I had my delivery. That was without a card, that was a fortunate hitting of F5 on the tracking page.

I'm normally fine with deliveries and the like but recently it's got worse.

City Link - Decided to try and pretend they had a parcel for me. Left a card with no details on it whatsoever and I was expecting a delivery... turns out it was for next door. Nice one.

Royal Mail - For some reason the Special Delivery guy decides to knock for some reason and I'd much rather it he rings the doorbell unless he does that the second time... I'm not sure since luckily I've always been there for the first knock.

Oscar99
03-09-10, 15:33
