Hi
just found out that microsoft do free trials of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010, I was wondering If I downloaded the trial version could I then use the product key card for pre-installed pc's???
The trial is 60 days iirc, and you can't uninstall/reinstall and have it reactivate, you need a full Windows format.
Don't know about the PKC, sorry.
Why would you want to do this?

To try it out?
To try it out?
But if it's a pre-installed key ... it should already be loaded ...
I think the PKC versions are mainly for when the OEM has loaded the system with an OPK, but I also believe the new Office 2010 PKCs come with a link to download the software from the microsoft or digital river website.

When I bought my laptop a few years back, it came with Office 2007 preinstalled. I paid for the licence, but that also included a second "mainframe" licence. So I bought the OEM disk, installed from that and used the licence again.
This was before they went down the download road.
I doubt very much of a particular installation is linked to a particular licence key. So long as you have one that covers the stuff you have installed, it should work. Microsoft's system seems to slap on everything and then enable the bits that you pay for.

That's how I've been getting my MS software for the last few years, seriously massive savings for students! Going to get Office 2010 soon.
You can get office much cheaper than that through other student pages. Got mine for £30 :D
i need an education email address lol
No you dont, most students pages just ask for a university name.
