View Full Version : Can anybody explain this
I was typing in the address today and found out this.
http://www.aria.co.ukforum
What i don't understand is how that can happen, surely typing in that address should return a server not found error.
And whats more, why is it just aria.co.ukforum, i've never heard of a .co.ukforum domain extension. Can somebody please explain this as my head may start to bleed from the confusion
http://www.aria.co.ukforum doesn't work for me??
i DO get \"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage....etc\"
Aha, i see, someone has registered aria.co.ukforum.co.uk

Well it won't anyway because .ukforum isn't a recognised Top Level Domain :)
It's just a cheeky attempt at disguising itself as the real deal.
EDIT: aria.co.ukforum.co.uk seems to link to porn, lol.
but aria.co.ukforum.co.uk is... and depending how your browser is set up/which browser you use, if you just type in aria.co.ukforum, it will try different different TLDs until it finds one that works...
I just dont have mine set up like that hehe...

Must be trying to change back to Lucy's Lair again! ;)
ok at first i thought they had setup subdomains first one co and the second aria which forms aria.co.ukforum.co.uk and was thinking Aria could take them to court for using there Trademark without permission, thats if Aria is even registered as one. But then i thought id do some tests and found out that its just there 404 redirect. for example you can put anything infront of the domain and it will still take you to the same page because that subdomain will not have been found so it reads the 404 setting/document and redirects you to the main site.
Another Example:http://i.like.big.buts.and.i.can.not.lie.ukforum.co.uk
Thanks
PS: just did a whois on the owner and what a name to call a company (Trojan Publishing Ltd)

Greenday?
While moseying over here today I mistyped the regular url by getting the R and I in aria transposed. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at a site for airers. Lol.
