hey guys, considering getting myself an i-phone finally,
the iphone 4 looks the daddies and frankly i want to blag my boss at work as he really wants one ;) ahahaha:chairfall:

so what is the best value way to get one? i currently have a t-mobile contract which is £15 a month and i get 100 minutes, unlimited texts and "unlimited internet" i.e. limited to 1-2gb a month.. i forget exactly' how much, but i was wondering is it worth going for a contract with it free? buying it outright and getting my own contract? etc?

thanks :D

You'll end up paying morein the longrun if you get is as a 'free' gift on a contract.

btw i have a tmobile contract £15 a month 600 minutes and unlimited txt's.

Not really mate although if your close to the end and phone them regarding upgrading your contract you can usually wangle a month or so free out of them ending your contract a little earlier.

I assume your £15 contract isn't for an iphone is it? If so where from?

£50 /month if you want it free for the iPhone 4.

£35 /month if you want the iPhone 3GS free.

Cheapest way to buy it is to just take the hit and pay Apple £500 for a unlocked one. The Pay As You go savings are so small it isn't worth having a locked model. Any contract costs far more than that over the full period and the quidco SIM only deals are so cheap that it still costs you less.

Cheapest contracts over the period are the Tesco 12 month ones. Think 3 aren't meant to be too bad either. If you are happy with a 3GS I would hit the 2nd hand trading on the forums, although if a VAT registered business is buying the ability to claim the VAT back on a new Iphone 4 from Apple makes it even more tempting.

Personally I think if you're on a low budget then your best bet is to buy the handset second hand (3G/3GS prices are falling now that the iPhone 4 is out) and then get a 12 month Sim-Only contract. It works out a lot cheaper. I did it myself back in February:

Handset: 16GB iPhone 3G £250
Contract: £15 a month x 12 months (300mins/Unlimited Texts/Unlimited Internet) = £180

Total: £430

I had a quick look around for a friend a few days ago and 8GB 3G's are going for about £150 on the bay :thumb:
