I was just having a think... although I think it's fantastic that Aria is reintroducing these offers, it is pretty intimidating if you've just signed up to get to 500 posts, let alone 1000. Took me like several months to get there without spamming, so...

I was wondering if it would be worth setting the first boundary for the offers to be say 200 posts or something, so firstly more people are eligible for the great deals (like the F3 1TB today or RAM or HSFs XD) and secondly it seems more achievable if you've just signed up... and maybe the 1000 post kids have like some hardcore deals like CPUs or higher end GPUs with discounts, and since there aren't anywhere near as many people in this category, just offer maybe 2 or 3 at a given price point (like the 5870s in January)??

Just a thought/bit of feedback, no worries if you disagree with it as I'm sure it's a PITA to get what you've got already set up :)

watercooled
25-08-10, 10:28
yes more offers please please

25-08-10, 10:30
roughly 90 posts to go to get 500+ discount :)

Spaceboy
25-08-10, 10:40
As a newbie here, I'm averaging about 10 posts per day (I know not all will count, but probably most will). Even if only half my posts count, at 5 posts per day, I'll hit 500 in just over 3 months... that's no time at all for me, and I think that's fine that longer standing members are rewarded for their dedication :)

That's just my /2p though... if the powers that be want to introduce more offers etc at a lower post count then I won't complain :D

Quick question......How does the free delivery thing work?? My Forum account is linked ...I have over the required number of posts...the item I want costs over £20...but when I go through the order process I still have to chose a delivery charge??

Aaron
20-10-10, 15:28
When how many posts does it say you made last month? And also, it wont work if the item you are ordering is a Super Special as these don't qualify for free shipping.

However, Deal 4 Today items DO count for free shipping :)

Tomorrow you will be able to get free delivery as you over 50 posts in October :),

(Have to link your forum account for it to work though)

Aaron
31-10-10, 22:12
As long as your order is over £20+VAT, and you don't order a super special, the free shipping is instant.. The first time you make 50 posts in a month, you'll get free shipping the following month..

ie - if you made 50 posts in october, you'll get free shipping in November. But you need to keep up the 50 posts per month to keep the free shipping eligibilty. So if you made 49 posts in november, you wont get free shipping in december :)

Just make sure you link your forum and shop account :)

Quick question - it may have been answered already, if so, sorry,

If you add a SuperSpecial with Free delivery (LCD Monitor or summat) Does it negate our forumite free postage?

Cheers

No it hasn't - not in post 85 anyway.

Perhgaps I wasn't clear, sorry,
I mean adding a Superspecial that states free delivery on it to an order of normal /deal of the day items - I think I tried a few days ago to add an SSD on SS which said Free Delivery and it negated the free delivery I already had.

Aaron
02-11-10, 13:07
Oh I see what you mean now! In that case, good questions and I'm not sure..

Logic would say it should incur a delivery charge, but I'm not sure if the free delivery system takes account of super specials with free delivery or if it just sees it as a super special!

What happens if you try it? That should give you the answer - other than that, the Aria staff might be able to shed some light!

Good question though. Can you link to a Super Special on the main website that has free delivery?

Broadsword1976
02-11-10, 13:12
Glad were on the same page now Mr :) - Just tried it again - grabbed over £20 of stuff normally - no postage, added a monitor on SS with Free shipping stated and Boom! £6.95 Shipping!

Should I re-post in the Bugs/Ingestions thread?

Hi mate, you need to make 50 posts per month to get free delivery the following month e.g.(50 posts in jan=free delivery in feb etc). Afaik the posts don't carry over, you have to make them before the end of the month :thumb:

free delivery is automatically applied to your order. If it has not been you either have not made 50 posts or got something on superspecial. The post Pepp77 linked to contains all the info....

your aria forum account has to be linked to your main arria account then it automatically discounts shipping when the order is over £20.

Its 50 posts per month and it runs a month in arrears. So even if you do get 50 posts in the next 30 mins, free delivery wont kick in till April. Also, its pretty easy to spot when people are spamming for free delivery, and those spam posts normally disappear.. ;)

But you keep just make multiple accounts and get free shipping that way.

50 posts a month is nothing, its not even two and day so what you have for it update, its for loyal customers who return to buy again.

Nifty
24-03-11, 11:58
Nice idea in theory I guess, but what's to stop someone creating a new account every month just for free postage without ever making a post?

EDIT: or +1 to El Wayneo :p

Ice Tea
24-03-11, 12:00
I'm just thinking from a business point that i don't know anybody that has a £1000 to spend that would wait a month if they are that tight and wish for free postage when other competitors have it for 20 posts within that month.

Once that person has shopped elsewhere it could be months before they need to buy again and it seems a shame to lose that potential order.

.

Nifty
24-03-11, 12:07
I think the rules at the moment are intended to reduce spam. If you only needed 20 posts in a day to get free shipping I can imagine we would need more mods.

I have noticed at least one person get moderated for trying to get 50 in one day thinking it works like that.

On a 1k build we usually reckon you still save over competitors even with postage. That's the usual argument over free postage vs paid for anyway.

Aaron
24-03-11, 12:34
What you have to remember is that the free delivery is something purely for ACTIVE forum members in addition to anything else. Its not meant to be a comparison to other competitors who do it in different ways.

If a person is going to be properly active on the forums, to the point that they qualify for the 'reward', then it will only be the first month that they won't get free delivery.

If they are just here for a hit and run to get free delivery for a single order, then I would say they arent actually that active on the forum?!

gbh4
24-03-11, 12:46
100 posts is the right amount to prevent the forums becoming a spamfest. 20 would cause a nightmare for the mods and maybe even 50. But 100 puts off those spamming for a free delivery and keeps those members who want to stay.

Nifty
24-03-11, 12:49
100 might be a bit steep for those members who don't have time to spam contribute as much as everyone else.

danroyle

100 might be a bit steep for those members who don't have time to spam contribute as much as everyone else.

I tend to agree i have considered joining these forums numerous times to get the free postage but have been put off by the post amount 50 is not a huge amount it's just that i frequent another forum and have a few thousand posts on there. It's the daunting thing of havng to start again on a new forum.

I'll be honest i only joined in the end for the competitions they had yesterday but i'll probably stick around now.

Aaron
24-03-11, 13:06
50 posts is less than 2 (non spam!!) posts per day.. Its not too much to ask, so that Aria foot the bill for your delivery too! :)

UrKo

I think its fine as it to be honest. Like people have said. 50 is less than two proper posts per month.

gbh4
24-03-11, 13:48

Plus the free shipping as the mod said above is for active members, not those who just get to the required limit and you never hear from again.

What?I didn't even know there is a sell and buy section. That's is very useful. I can try to sell my components there to fund my upgrade. :thumb:

Yes, you'll need to make 50 posts BEFORE June and all 50 will need to be made in May.

If you have made 50 posts in May you'll get free shipping in June.

You have to make 50 posts a month to get free delivery the next month. So if you post 50 times in April you get free delivery in May, post 50 times in May and get free delivery in June, post 49 times in June and you do not get free delivery in July. Its a continuous process.

Also, they must be non spam posting. So no going through every single old thread you can find, digging them up and answering

haha
yeah
agree
lol
i know

etc etc..

If that happens, then post counts can be reset to zero and usernames can magically jump out of the free delivery names user list..

It is interesting that you ask this question.

It might help the Aria folks and the minders of this place if you pointed out the bit in the first message in this discussion that was not clear enough to answer your question.

It is very easy for the regulars to think that the answers are obvious, while newcomers are left baffled.

If you can show which bit you don't understand perhaps someone can clarify it so that the same question doesn't come up yet again.

Perhaps they also need to add some pointers in that message to an even clearer explanation.

Is the free delivery next day delivery? I see the citylink van in the banner, are they the only choice for free delivery? The nearest citylink depot from my house is ages away :/

Oh well at least you have killer deals to make up for it :D (not that i'm complaining about free delivery I just have to drive for 1hr to get to the depot compared to royal mail which is 5 mins away)

Well, obviously, but citylink always seem to come at the times that i'm not in so for 50% of citylink orders i've had to trek over to their depot to collect my item and last time I checked they don't try to redeliver the next day so if I miss them once I have to go to the depot. :cry

Is free delivery only for web orders, or does it work for telephone orders as well?
