Hi all, building a new pc, planning on buying the parts today, my budget is £650.

How is this?

Is there anything i should swap to cater for my budget? also will the CPU come with a stock heatsink and fan? and also does anyone know if there is a card reader you can get with SD HC compatibility?

At the very least, have a look at the Akasa Zen, it retails for around £35 and it is a brilliant midi size case that should fit your requirements perfectly. You also don't have a PSU (power supply) listed. I whole heartedly agree with PP regarding the case and particularly the psu. The Akasa Zen is a great buget case and i would pair it up with something like the Hiper 435 (absolute minimum) http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/200w+to+449w/+Hiper++435W+TRUE+POWER++PSU?productId=24511

Preferably something from a more reputable maker like Seasonic http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/200w+to+449w/+Seasonic+430w+S12+Power+Supply?productId=25565

I would recommend you only get the single hdd and up the case and psu specs, you can add another hdd anytime. Skimp on the psu and if it fails on you it could take out other itmes.

Sorry, I should have mentioned i already had a 550W 24 pin power supply for the system.

The system isnt mine, my mum and dad chose that case, if it was me like you say i'd have gone for something a little better.

I already had some case fans to put in it, and also wasnt using stock cooling, i bought the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO on recommendation from someone at my work, but i'm not overclocking the machine anyway.

Theres 2 hard drives as my dad wanted mirroring setting up, as he has a lot of pictures from his camera and wants to feel a little bit safe knowing that its not just sitting on one drive.

What psu have you got, just because its \"550watt\" doesn't necessarily make it ok.

Cant see any RAM in your spec, did you get some, you need at least 2Gb really, you dont need an 8800 for the rest of the sepc you have there, an 8600GT will suffice at more than half the price then upgrade to an 8800 in a year or so when there cheap.

Complete toot. The only 8 series that is worth the dough is the 8800. Same with the HD 2900XT. But the 2600 is also quite good. Do not get the 8600 they are poor performance and wont cut it in dx 10.

Yes but to save £100+ isnt it wort it if your on a budget? With the spec above i would say its not really worth getting the 8800.

None of the stuff on his setup will bottleneck much with a 8800, but the 8600 will be the bottleneck on a lower setup. GFX is the priority IMHO.

If your on a buget then why waste money on an 8600? Go for a \"get you by\" 7300gt or something just to get the pc up and running till you can afford a better card.
