Hi,

My girlfriend wants a new laptop for under £500, it doesn't have to be too smart on gaming, she might try World Of Warcraft but that is as demanding as it will get. She will be using it for internet mainly but would like it to be a steady all rounder if possible. Video editing etc isn't required.

She likes the i3 chips (as they are new and she wants it to last a few years) and she likes the Samsung R530 but I hear the battery life is poor on them.

This is the competition, http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Laptops/Laptops/Samsung+R530-JB01UK+15.6%22+Core+i3+Laptop+in+Red/Silver+%2B+FREE+CASE+%2B+MOUSE!+?productId=40296
can you think of anything better?

Thanks in advance

Check the advent sienna 500 from currys, it has a i5 processor which is even better than an i3 and its only 429 :)

dont be put off by the brand, its just the name of the casing really.. all the inside parts are OEM parts like samsung etc..

just ordered one myself

Edit:no linking to competitors thanks. Ty

I am currently concerned about the airflow on this laptop. The feet are minuscule and leave no room underneath for air circulation even on a hard flat surface. I may consider getting her to return it and find something else.

I'd recommend the Dell i3 (can't remember exact model designation) - pretty nice, well built and a top spec for less than £500.
