After a long month of internet exploration I have finally drafted a list of parts to build my computer:

Core 2 Duo E6750
Asus P5N32-E SLi Socket 775 ATX Motherboard
Corsair 2GB PC2-6400 C4 XMS2 DDR2
BFG 8800GTS OC2 320MB
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
Western Digital Caviar SATA2 400GB
NEC 7170A DVD Drive
OCZ 600W StealthXStream
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
Thermaltake Soprano Case
ProLite X486S Monitor

Now only two things remain. The first is that I am a little unsure of the graphics card. Is the BFG factory overclocked 8800GTS okay? The second is the mouse. Can anyone recommend a good wireless mouse?

If all goes well I shall be Supreme Commanding it up next week! God, I haven't been able to play a high performance game on this computer since Half-life 2!

All looks good - The BFG 8800GTS is very good - don't worry about it.

I use a logitech MX1000 that's been replaced with the MX Revolution and it's superb - some people think they're too heavy but I like it that way.

The logitech gaming mice are all wired (allegedly to increase reponse time) so if you want wireless you need to look elsewhere...

I've got the MX1000 and it's perfect :D. As slaxor said, get the MX Revolution. Only if you're right handed though... it's no use for lefties!
