I always wondered what the difference was between the different Brands of graphics cards. For instance, what would the difference be between the Asus 320mb 8800GTS or the Foxconn 320mb 8800GTS.

(The other reason I wanna know is because the Foxconn 8800GTS has a fantasic review but is a little tricky to get ahold of, and the Asus comes with Stalker! )

Hi,

The higher the price the better the circuit card is (or somthing along them lines, i remember being told myself awhile ago)

Thanks

Sometimes the stock speeds are different. The coolers will be the manufactures design, so a Foxconn card might be loud as hell, while XFX or BFG are much quieter and cooler.

have a look at the BGF 320MB 8800GTS OC2 mate, they have overclocked the GPU, memory and the actual pipelines, which it is very tricky to do manually.[/quote:5c44f63f9a]

 :D yes but also you get a better circuit card

Any - they all own.

Inno3D's is cheapest. £160-ish.

They'll all perform the same, really, so brand doesn't matter unless they're factory overclocking their cards, or including non-reference coolers etc.

Micky i sometimes wonder if you know what you are talking about, the circuit BOARD is a reference design so in 99.9% of cases it is the same for every manufacturers card, how do you think aftermarket coolers fit ALL types of cards they are made for. Only on VERY rare occasions does a manufacturer make a new circuit board design for any given card. Some may use better spec components like capacitors on their top end overclocked modles.

Everything else being equal same clock speeds etc the more expensive ones you are paying for the bundled extras ie games sometimes t-shirts or the warrenty, some of the bigger names offer a life time warrenty so thats why they cost more.

Ive not seen recent Nvidia cards in the flesh, but I had a spate of Nvidia 6800's I was selling on ebay 2 years ago. THe 6800 Ultra and GT.

I sold evga, MSI, bfg, albatron, nvidia plain, etc etc

Every circuit board was identical and probably even made in the same factory in taiwan, the only difference was the cooler in one case which was a custom one, on the rest the actual label would peel off to reveal the nvidia plain label underneath.

I think EVGA had OC'd there card slighly as well.

So if nothings changed all cards are the same ref board underneath with the companies cooler sporting their' brand and a bit of OC chucked in to boot.
